"I didn't know that before," he admitted, "But I can definitely see it." His eyes refocused themselves to her hair for a moment. Even in the low light, he could tell it was pure red. To him, the look was very Capitol- he rarely saw anyone but the people from there dye their hair (or occasionally, skin) any colors that wouldn't occur naturally- undeniable proof that nature had no hold on a decent human being. In either case, he liked it- a lot, as a matter of fact. It's a good thing we met tonight, then- we must be pretty compatible."
Another career, hm? That was an interesting tidbit. On top of that, she seemed to earnestly care about his potential victory was the mark of a good friend. Better to be out for success than just blood... never liked the Ax Crazy type. Bloodlust- despite her hair color, he didn't detect any on her. The talk of just being in the Games for the experience could have confused him, of course, but she even managed to make that questionable detail sound charming.
"Anyway, thank you." he nodded once out of habit. "Still, when you get in, I'll do my best to make sure you get out... and I think I have a pretty good grip on that claim." Now growing comfortable, he tried to lock eyes, seeing if he could tell what color hers were in the darkness. "Remember that victor about a decade or so ago who won with the suit of green armor?" He snapped his fingers. "I'm not the kind of guy that boasts often, but that was our family's gift."
Letting the memory fade quickly, he carried on to her other questions. "I'm seventeen- if I don't make the Games next year, I'm out. I maxed out my tesserae, though, and I'm making a point of volunteering... if that doesn't work, I think I can make it as a writer." He took a brief moment to look up at the sky, still wearing the same smile. "Not that I'd ever have to work. I've been training for about eleven years- that's probably the hardest thing I've ever... had to do." Thinking back to every situation he may have, er, 'jumped into,' just saying ever done wouldn't cut it.
