Jack's intro- open to anyone.
(I hope you join!)
With the first call of the rooster he drousily opened his eyes for a moment. Even though staying on his comfortable bed of hay and blankets seemed very tempting he knew he had to get up, just like every day. A dirty hand was rubbed over his face before he opened his green eyes completely and briefly checked to see that his parents were still there. It had become a habit after both of his brothers were no longer alive.
The soft movement in the other bed gave away that his parents were still there resting their old bones. At the age of 17 Jack was old enough to fend for himself as well as his family. Heck, he could even have his own family, which he had no interest in knowing what happened to his brothers...both dead: One because he dared to steal some eggs when his family was starving, the other a victim of the games. What a place to have a family in. He wouldn't touch that subject with a ten foot pole.
In front of his dads cabin he streched his back and even though the sun had barely shown on the horizon the day was already incredibly hot.
Good. At least he didn't have to worry about shoes or long pants then. The young horseman glanced down at his feet and wiggled his dirty toes...all nine of them. One was long gone curtesy of one of the first horses he ever broke in. It was dangerous to wear no shoes around horses but he liked it that way.
After a meager breakfast of some corn and hot water he grabbed his beat up Fedora to shield his skin from the merciless sun and made his way through the streets of district 10 to reach the far side where the farm he was working on was located.
