~Jana~
Looking back at this night Jana had conflicting emotions. She had been so afraid for Dominic and Landon's lives, angry at the two people she'd trusted to accept her decision, but most all relieved that Dominic was ok. But that didn't change the fact that something had to be done about the situation at hand. Her father and Landon did not seem the least bit willing to accept her and Dominic. They thought that they were simply protecting her from the dangerous schizophrenic, but really they had fueled the rebellious girl to make plans to run off with him.
Ever so carefully she had slipped into the back part of the shop and grabbed a small first-aid kit and some food, enough to last them for a little while, as well as a few other things. And of course Jana had brought her hatchet, the same damn one she had almost attacked Dominic with while defending Ayane when they had all first met. To think how much things of changed since then. She'd gone from being willing to slug Dominic with a hatchet, to running away from her father with him. They had decided to head of into the dense woods of Seven. She'd made sure to dress in many layers as winter was approaching, two wool blankets in her bag. With any luck there would be enough lumber around to make a shelter of some sort. God can only know how long they would be out here. At least long enough for her father and Landon to cool off a bit, and hopefully realize their mistake. Both were stubborn, but maybe Jana taking things into her own hands for once would prove to them once and for all that their little girl could take care of herself, and make her own choices.
Poor Dominic needed to get away from this for a while too. It was all too much to ask him to have bear for her. So off they would go. Jana had grown up in these woods, and if she wanted to she could vanish into the foliage with Dominic. How long supplies would last was one of her concerns, although she did have some plant knowledge, and decent hunting skills, it may not be enough. Her father's reaction to her disappearance also weighted heavily on her mind. She was stabbing him in the back in a way. "But he left me with no other choice." Jana thought bitterly. He had presented her with two paths; leave Dominic, or leave him and Landon. The first wasn't an option in her mind, that left the second.
Dominic had offered for her to stay here with her family and friends while he left, but Jana refused to stay behind while he went off on his own. Leaving had been something she had already been considering anyway. The autumn leaves crunched under their feet, each sound made Jana pause to look around. The last thing she wanted was to be followed by someone who would surely tell her father where she was going, and with who. And Mr.Hale would do Dominic in if he found them out here together. It would take time, patience, and a bit of luck to make him open his eyes to what was real. That being that Dominic was a schizophrenic, but they loved each other, and weren't about to separate because of what he and Landon had to say about their choice. A tiny part of Jana couldn't help but feel bad for blatantly defying her father, but the majority of her felt strongly that what she and Dominic were doing was right.
Pulling her gray jacket tighter around her shoulders, she paused and glanced all around them, listening for a moment. Nothing but the sound of her and Dominic's breathing. So far so good. The leave covered ground had made it so no footprints would lead any searchers to them. The down side of late fall being the trees, except evergreens, were bare and provided no cover. As well as the fact that winter was right around the corner. Flurries had already been coming down here and there. The flint she'd packed would only last so long... But right now her mind was elsewhere.
"Are you holding up ok? We can stop and rest if you want."
