Layla looked at the branch above her. She knew that it was thin, but had climbed on thinner before. There was no worry in her mind. And the danger wouldn't come from the thin aspect of the branch. Once she had pulled herself up carefully and skillfully, she saw what Ethan had been talking about. The land looked like a knife had cut through it. I did this, Layla thought to herself. Then she was taken aback by sky.
"Oh Ethan." was all she could say. The moon was full, shining down on them like a peering eye. It's white light lit up the forest, the stars twinkling like the many eyes of the people of district 7 that looked up at them every night. Layla was always fascinated by space. What was really out there? It's beauty never ceased to amaze her.
But what happened next was something that would change her forever. As she looked up at the moon, a raven flew right over her head quickly and unexpectedly. She didn't even know that it was a raven because all she saw was the moon get blotted out and then she found her self fight for balance. And then it happened.
In an instant she felt herself go weightless, and then gravity took over. But in that instant before she was sent plummeting towards the earth she locked eyes with Ethan. And then he was gone, blocked by the branches that where slapping her in the face. "ETHAN!!!!" she screeched. She felt the wind fly out of her when a large branch made contact with her back. Remember Lay, if you fall, don't land with strait legs. You might do some serious damage kid. Her brothers words came rushing back to her as she saw the ground approach. Bend. THE GROUND IS NEARING! Your.SOMEONE, ANYONE!Knees.THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!!!! Layla.
They say that if you were to jump off of a high building, you would die of panic and shock just centimeters before you hit the ground. If only that had been true for Layla. She did however black out centimeters before she hit the ground, her knees bent. But the time of unconsciousness was over all too soon. The pain that came rushing at her couldn't be put into words. So Layla just laid there, trying to stay conscious as the pain ripped through her very being. Tears were flowing down her face and she gripped the grass around her as if she were holding on to her life. She felt like venom was pulsing through her, or as if she were on fire. She screeched when ever so slightly tried to move her leg. One of them wasn't moving and the other was to much to bear. And with that, she sank back into darkness...
