Black. Nothing. I reach out my hand and feel nothing. "Hello?" I call out. I expected an echo but, nothing happens. Then, the darkness is overwhelming. It's sucking and weaving itself through me. My voice sounds wrong. Misplaced and I hear my voice sounds different. It startles me and I tense. Then I'm burning. My heartbeat increases. Something inside my chest is yanking at my throat. I squeeze my eyes shut.
And it stops. I'm beside a tree. The tree is very slender and crooked with metallic gold bark. The leaves are a deep, harsh black. Like they have been burnt without shriveling up. Like ashes rebuilt into leaves. I look around me. The silver blades of grass are tall but, I can see for miles. Nothing is there for me. I stand up and dust off whats on me. I can't make heads or tails of what's going on. I feel a strand of hair un tuck itself and when I look up, my hair is pointed at the sky. But, it's not a sky at all. I back up, looking wild eyed at the leave of the trees breaking off and falling beside me. They burst, suddenly into flames and I'm left backing up until my back hits the tree. I whip my head around and look at the tree in surprise. The tree is now a scorching red. I fall back wards into the tree, my hands dangling uselessly in front of me and I can feel the air rip past my body. I know I'm crying. I hurtle and my stomach freezes and I feel like I want to retch.
I suddenly blink onto a beach. In fact, it's not a beach at all. It's a miniature cliff hanging over a small lake. I'm wearing a black dress. It's like an eclipse of stars and it spreads out around my feet. There's a tight black ribbon beneath my chest that burns and squeezes my lungs. What gets me is the land. It's grass is a green/blue and theres no sky. Instead of a sky there's an ocean. I have no idea how I know this but, it's calming. There is absolutely nothing around me and I walk over to the small lake. I'm barefoot and my arms hang loosely at my sides. I sit, dress spreading out around me like a giant, fluffy cushion. I lean over hands resting in my lap. I look into the lake and see a black haired girl I don't know looking back. I see her looking back at me and I can't help but look around her.
Around her I see theres a girl with white hair, incredibly pale skin and a blank, white dress. I look up out of the water, as if to look for her. Was she crying? Her head is down. I look back in the water and she's gone. My vision of the strange black haired girl is interrupted when ripples wash through it. The white haired girl stands before me. When she looks up I open my mouth to say something. But, she opens her mouth and the blood drains from my face. When she opens her eyes, blood gushes out, dripping down her white dress. And she shrieks. A blood freezing shriek.

I jolt awake, scream stuck in my throat. A hot liquid is dripping down my cheeks and my shaking hand flashes up. Tears. I put my same hand over my one eye and stare down at, as I now notice, the warm arm around my waist. The tears won't stop flowing. I look over at Thomas' sleeping face, searching for comfort but, I'm rewarded with nothing. I stare at his face knowing my face probably looks horrible. My hand slides off my face and my tears slow down. I reach out my extra hand and place it on his shoulder. "...Thomas...?" I call quietly. Then, I second thought myself and suck in air. He looked so peaceful... The back of my hand traced the outline of his jaw. "I'm sorry..." I say, apologizing for probably almost waking him.
(( Sorry if it's a bit gory or odd . just random ideas off the top of my head.))
