No Dawn, No Day...I'm Always In This Twilight
A third party observer; that's what the angel was. A huge shift had taken place in the room and Clara was bearing witness to it.
The leather-clad girl was now the focus of attention between the angel and her younger brother. Clara watched her with eager eyes, whereas Mason stared at her with passionate and nervous ones. To say there was tension was an understatement. The only calm in the room was the silent crackling of the orange fire, and William reading an encyclopedia over on the couch.
Her hot chocolate wafted into her slender nose, but she fought with all of her might to keep her attention fixed to December. If she needed any help at all, Clara would be there. Although it was her younger brother, she would want to aid Ember at any cost. Being in the same room as someone you might potentially like was always a nerve wracking experience.
You've certainly got that right deary. December's voice shook as she stammered between a response to accept the hot chocolate. To say it was adorable wouldn't do the entire situation justice. She kept calm to let the blonde know that she was in no way thinking any less of her. It was undeniably cute, and innocent. She must have the same experience with males that I do...none.
Mason joined in on Ember's nervous giggling and tried to set her at ease. With his calloused and yet sure hands he gripped a mug and handed it to December. "Here you go." The boy smiled once again displaying his beautiful and perfect teeth. Clara knew the blonde would fall to pieces if she didn't rejoin her, so she took a few ginger steps and sat right next to her. "Thank you Mason. You're the best."
Mason took the silver tray in his hand and set it on the mahogany wooden floor. He removed the last mug for himself and joined the girls on the floor. "You're both very welcome. May...uh, may I join your conversation?" It was all too much for the angel; she had never seen her brother act this sweetly.
"Of course you can! December and I would love to have your company." She shifted her position on the floor so that the three sat in an almost triangular formation. Both Ryder's took a sip of their hot chocolate at precisely the same moment. One thing about the family; they learned how to time eating and drinking together. It made conversation at dinner much easier.
Deciding to break the silence, the boy parted his tan lips. "So what brings you to this side of the forest December?" His quizzical face was enchanting to look at; he never broke his focus from the beautiful blonde girl.
OOC: But she's a lovely awkward turtle ^.^
