Epee Round 1: Moreno, J. vs. Limier

Braxton was impatient, and when he became impatient his scars began to itch. He wanted to win this, proving himself to the Lyons. The simple fact that Jaime wasn't here made him feel odd, the absence of someone who he was so loyal to wasn't an everyday feeling. But Jaime had fallen ill before the Olympics could begin, and it was up to Braxton to represent The Kingslayers in fencing. Bianca, the "Beauty," was entered in boxing, but Braxton was doing almost every combat sport. The other two types of fencing didn't appeal to him, the rules were too complicated. Epee was realistic, stab anywhere and you get a point, simple enough for even his dull mind to understand.

So District Two's bloodhound stood in the equipment room, donning the gear for fencing. First was the suit, snow white, but with fancy electronics for registering a touch of the sword. The helmet and mask were next, gingerly lowered over his face, the bottom of the mask slightly brushing exposed bone. Braxton snarled, and lifted the epee. It was a delicate sword, much lighter and smaller than the type he was used to, but it would do for this event.

He stepped onto the strip, looking at the electronic scoreboard for information about his opponent. "A Moreno," he thought, a loose smile breaking on one half of his burned face. "a worthy opponent." Without breathing a word, he lifted the sword to face the girl, and moved forward.

The girl blocked his attack, and he backpedaled slightly. Braxton tried to find her eyes through the mask, and let out a snarl.

The point of her epee goes high, and lands a hit on Braxton's shoulder. He was caught off-guard, something that isn't wanted in a fencing match. He tried to find a rhythm, but in a fast paced match, there wouldn't be time for that. So he lunged again.

Braxton's blade goes high, and hits an area around her chest. The point registers as her epee connects with his body, each of the combatants earning a point

The Moreno girl lunges forward again, and Braxton receives her touch to the chest with a jab aimed at the foot. The blow connects, and they both receive a point. He snarls again, frustrated at how they appear to be almost equal. He thinks he is better, he just has to prove it.

He lunges, but his sword is met with steel. The girl parries his attack, and it appears she is going to lunge again.

A hit on his arm, and Braxton was ready to tackle his opponent and beat them up the old fashioned way. That wouldn't do, he was here to represent the Lyons, and fighting on the strip would put an end to his medal hopes in this event. He focused his rage into precision, and stabbed once again.

The epee connected with her torso, putting Braxton one point short of a tie. He smirked with the good side of his face, and prepared to parry any attacks.

The Moreno slipped ahead, landing another hit on Braxton's arm. He realized that his lunges made his free arm an easy target, and tucked it away behind him. He moved to go again, and struck forward.

She parries his hit again, and he realizes that she might be better than him. But he can't let her win, his pride is too high for that.

Her foil goes down, and touches the tip of Braxton's foot. He curls his lip in annoyance, trying to get into the mindset for fighting. Without a life-or-death mentality, fighting isn't fighting. They reset, and Braxton lunges again.

The sword darts in, and Braxton pokes into her arm with it. Point.

Another point his arm, and he was frustrated. He had always thought himself a decent fighter, but this was embarrassing. So he lunged again.

He hit her on the arm, and attack to remind her that this was payback. It was his fight, and he would win.
