Towering over most in the crowd, Nathaniel, better known as "Nat", stands at a daunting 6'3". Even at his age. Though his growth rate since is rather slow and steady. His skin is decently tan, from working outside all day. Complimenting Nat's height is his very muscled fisique, mostly around the upper body. Arms, chest, abdomens, shoulders. Rounding up the rest of his build, Nat has a facial structure to match the build, a strong jaw and cheekbones. But when he smiles or laughs, it all softens out beautifully.

Nathaniel's hair is under kept. Short, jutting out out in every direction, and a rather rough feel to the strawberry blonde locks. It appears to change colour depending on the light, from golden-brown to the almost-bleachy-blonde due to the roughness.

To go into some last details about his face, Nat's eyebrows are perked. It adds some brightness to the otherwise scary, large build of his. And one thing that'll also stand out is his eyes, which I probably should've explained earlier in this description. They are a comforting blue, murky-like but warm with the shades of sky and sea. As his eyes are set deep in his face, his eyes appear darker than they really are, and sometimes green-toned.

Nat is very forthright. He doesn't talk often, but when he does, it's attention grabbing. Not just because of how loud his voice is, [which it is] but more so of how much confidence is outer into the tone. Nathaniel has a very strong opinion about things, and believes that what he thinks is right, is. He also has a tendency to judge hastily and jump to conclusions. It causes problems and fights easily, as Nat is more physical than vocal about expressing himself. Well of course he is, being so large and all he's gonna use it to his advantage.

Nathaniel, despite how he may be foreseen so far, is very loyal and devoted to everything he is close to, it plays a big part in his sudden but rash decisions. He as well enjoys working and participating in just about anything, which isn't always a good thing when you consider how he jumps into things a little to quickly. Nat takes pride in working to earn and support those near and dear to him, maybe a little to much pride. He tends to get overly proud of his achievements, even though he is not much of an over-achiever. None of the above Nat is very self-conscious about controlling, because he is very secure of himself socially.

It's just on the verge on arrogant cockiness and the mindset of a impertinent, pretentious guy. But the way Nat behaves when his mouth is shut and actually aware, hopefully makes up for it.

Mr. Carter is just flat out, 100 percent a good person to spill and talk to. Yeah, I know, doesn't sound like it, right? But he is a very good listener and insanely supportive of others, in fact, that's what he mostly thinks about. Other's issues and how he could help in any way. Typically, he isn't very good at helping one's personal life, but just a great pair of ears to vent to. Nathaniel doesn't always have advice in return, but he can surely make you feel calmer and more comfortable. He just has that vibe about him, that makes you comfortable with telling him every little problem and secret. Nat would never tell of course, because he is so loyal.

Nathaniel grew up not rich, but not poor either. Just average. As long as both his parents and Nat's older brother kept working, the family had just as much as they needed. His father, Eric Carter, worked as a fisherman for a company that exported fish and seafood to the upper districts. Sage Carter, his mother, is a part-time nurse for District 4's medical station. Luca, the family's eldest son at nineteen, worked alongside their father. Nathaniel as well has a little sister, seven year-old Ashleigh.

Let's rewind though, this is history of course. Luca was fifteen, Nathaniel thirteen, at Ashleigh at three. When Sage Carter was not working, she was taking care of the two youngest ones. Nat didn't like sitting at home much, he wanted to work with Luca and his dad. And at home, his sister called him 'Natty,' that was the worst part of home life when he was younger. Luca would come home early in the evening to bring dinner, always coming back with something little for 'Natty' and Ashleigh, like bones or scales from large fish or bright shells. Their father would not return until late at night, when only Sage and Luca were awake.

It had always been that way for years. All the children had regular schooling, chores, and lives. And by 'normal' lives, I mean lives with ups and downs of course. [Ack, forgive my weird foreshadowing.]

Eric Carter, along with the rest of his crew were presumed dead one night when a large storm got their fishing boat hard. None of the bodies were retrieved, and so there was no funeral. [He's dead as a doornail, in case it sounds a little sketchy.] Luca was infuriated the most, everyone else was just devastated. He refused to believe that his father was gone, and in turn denied to himself that he was left as the main provider for the family. The fifteen year-old became very isolated and would barely come out of his room, let alone work. Sage Carter sunk into depression soon after, unable to work then.

So, you guessed it, Natty's turn. The boy was only thirteen, but had learned enough about the District's fishing industry to get a small job helping unload the hauls from the nets into containers. Sage and Luca were got no better for an entire year forwards, despite the support and tries at comfort given to them by friends and neighbours.

Luca had never finished school, and Natty dropped out when he was fourteen to focus more on providing for the family. He got on his first journey fishing crew, and was gone for three days hauling nets and such. When he returned, it wasn't a happy scene. Sage had committed suicide while he was gone. Jumped off a cliff into the choppy ocean below.

Nathaniel and Luca were in despair. The family was so torn up and dis-connected already, but they decided to send Ashleigh off to a nice home stay family in the Capitol, for her to receive better education and care than they were given. So fast forward two years, and they are still in that position. Well educated and fed, but never-seen Ashleigh. Cold, deceiving, but at least working hard, Luca. And the Nathaniel we see today.
