[/blockquote][/blockquote]Caspian had to marvel at this boy's obviously mixed up mind and actions. As much as Caspian knew he wasn't a perfect specimen, either, at least he kept his head together in public. Home, alone in your bed with the darkness pouring through your window like a never-ending funnel was the place to lose it. Underneath your sheets with the cotton poking and scratching at the burns on your skin was when you were allowed to cry, to scream, to remember the things that had happened in the past, to regret what you had done but also learn from those regrets. Not in the middle of a blazing field.
The name "Darius" fills the air suddenly, answering Caspian's question. His eyes glaze over the boy who did not have his head screwed on right. As much as Caspian abhorred to admit and accept it, he did have a few things in common with Darius. Neither of them were fully sane. Even though Caspian was able to handle himself in public, he knew that he was just like this boy when the sun slipped beneath the horizon.
The sudden sounds of rised, irritated voices resonated from the pathway on the other side of the field. Scanning diligently, Caspian could see the discernable white of the Peacekeeper outfits, marching toward Caspian and Darius. Two snowcaps in the dead of summer. Caspian cursed under his breath, turning his attention back to Darius.
"Two Peacekeepers are on their way to find who started the fire. You better get the hell out of here before they think it was you. I saved your ass once, I'm not planning on saving it again." And at that, Caspian cut any and all existing ties he had with this boy. He hoped this boy had just enough sanity in him to get on his feet and run. With a last glance at the burnt grass and the deranged boy, he took off in the direction of home.
