Their lips had met again, it was brief but still amazing. So it was as if Gortan's thoughts had completely reversed into the opposite of what he feared, he smiled again. But this time something was different, the way his lips curled up in an upwards arch, and the look in his eyes, and to others it may seem normal, but to him he felt different. He felt, better. But then he snapped back into reality and heard her words;
"You're right. It would be a shame to lose such a meal, it really was quite a catch. C'mon, we should hurry."
It was as if Gortan was twice the man he once was, because he had stood up, leaned down at her, sweeping her off of her feet with ease, holding her in his arms securely, walking back out around the group home back up to the market, and at a decent running speed too. Finally they were back, and the perfect flounder had just came off of the grill, cooked just as it was. And so Gortan would calmly and softly place her down on her feet to stand on her own, while their meal was diced into 15 chunky slivers of the grilled flounder, the sea salt and other natural spices sizzled into the mouthwatering seafood. Many were in a trance over it, but it wasn't the first time someone had reeled in a fish like that. But the scent lingered passed the crowds of people throughout the market, straight to Gortan and Alexandria.
So taking her hand again, Gortan would lead her through the market and back to the chef, and by then his fish was wrapped in a special tempature-concealing plastic wrap, and bagged by a paper casing. The aroma still seemed to find it's way around the area, haunting in a good way. And so Gortan had claimed his fish once again, but this time it was ready to be eaten. And for the first time hopefully of many, he could treat Alexandria to a meal worth remembering.
Gortan had unwrapped a part of the fish and took a few of the slices out, walking over to a Produce Vendor where mostly coconuts and vegetables were bartered, but today they had purified water and Gortan's favorite; Apples, such a rarity in District 4. He hadn't had one in years, and due to how uncommon they were, it wad likely that Alexandria had never had one. So he traded the extra pieces of the flounder for two bottles of their consumable bottled water, as well as 4 of their ripest apples, all were loaded into a bag which he also filled with the fish.
Gortan held her hand again, and would walk her safely back out of the market and on to the beach once again. And then he would walk with her underneath of the pier, where they had first met the night before, when she 'caught him' with her hook. And so he would sit down on the soft sand, next to a flat rock which he saved for her so she wouldn't have to sit on the ground. And once and if she did, he would open their bag, evenly splitting it up so they each had 2 apples, a bottle of water, and 3 thick succulent loaves of the grilled fish. And to her as someone did to him when he was younger, he would explain apples;
"They're a lot like Coconuts, except the outer parts can be eaten and bitten into easily. I have only had one of these before ever, and it was the best. You'll love it, I guarantee you that."
Biting through the red skin of one of his apples, his teeth sunk into the yellowish-white insides, leaving a good sized chunk out of the special fruit as he pulled off of it to chew and swallow what he had, enjoying all of his meal after that, frequently sipping on his water to help his stomach properly digest the food which he ate.
