Does, Says, Thinks
She looked at me, pausing for a moment as though she had been about to say something but either forgot what it was, or decided against it. Another moment of thinking for her, and then she got up. I watched, curious, as she went over to my pack. When she opened it and started riffling through it, I scowled slightly, unimpressed by her lack of respect for my privacy. I was insulted somewhat that she hadn't just asked me for what she needed, and had instead decided to go through my things out of her own initiative.
As I watched, she pulled out my coil of rope, at least kind enough not to just dump the food on the ground in the process. I was beginning to contemplate not giving her any of it, when she spoke. "I think I'm gonna make a bed of pine kneedles and leaves and sleep up in a tree." So, I had been right about the needles and leaves. She continued, "I wouldn't want to bomb you're sleeping conditions." She seemed sincere about that, but then again, she had just riffled through my things without asking. I don't know what she was thinking, but I barely knew her and I didn't like how she treated this as though we had known each other for years. Because we haven't.
Her eyes scanned the branches above my tent, searching for a way to get up I would guess. "Could you lend a hand?" Yes, your highness. Boy, did I feel like her personal servant right now. "I promise I'll help tear down camp tomorrow, and set it up again if it comes to that." Sure, I've heard that one before. But at least once she was in the tree I could have a moment to myself, without her interrupting whenever I was trying to have decent thought progression.
Conceding to that argument, I went over to her. Grudgingly, I muttered, "Can't climb a tree by yourself, for all your bragging, you're not as good as you thought." My bitterness was evident in my voice, and in my words. I wasn't really in the mood to have this girl run my life. I should have just taken the horse and left, instead I stupidly brought along this annoyance. Oh boy, my life is just wonderful.
I went over to the base of the tree, looking at it to spot the lowest branch. I scoffed, finding it was only a foot or so above my head. I stood under in and jumped, grabbing it so I held myself up with my arms. Swinging myself back and forth, I got up enough momentum to swing myself onto the branch. Looking down at Harmony, and raised an eyebrow before jumping down to land gently on the ground. "You're really not very good." I moved closer to where she stood, crossing my arms as I stood before her. "You still need help?"
