There are some things Coy would consider to be on his daily routine. One of the tasks that fall into that category is actually getting out of money. It's a strenuous activity that takes patience and determination. The bed is always glaring at him, daring him to hop back in to its radiating coziness. Still, he fights the temptation and continues to strip off his clothes - making sure to not wake his brother - and put some clean ones on. Another burden in his list is eating breakfast. That could respectively fall under getting up, but it's a little bit different. Eating breakfast requires him to walk to the kitchen, open the fridge and get some milk. It demands him to get a bowl and spoon, and it means he has to get cereal to pour into it. And then once he actually makes his cereal, his time is consumed by eating it. All-in-all, it's a win-win because it tastes good and it gives him energy for the tasks-to-come.

The next objective is to walk out of the house which is fairly simple, seeing that the front door is only feet away from the kitchen table. After dumping the milk from his cereal into the sink and throwing the bowl in the dish-washing, he booked through his door and faced the cold air. The wind was already nipping at his cheeks, and he pulled his hat eve further down on his head to shield him from the cold. As his chest rose and fell, he watched his white breaths evaporate into nothingness. That was not part of his daily routine, but it was peaceful enough to be. The worst part of the routine was next; the jog. It's not that Coy couldn't do it, because he's been doing it all his life. The burden was just so boring he didn't want to do it anymore. Passing the same trees and same houses and same people wasn't very entertaining the hundredth time around.

So he decided to change it up. Instead of going on his usual path, one that just trailed through side-streets, he decided a nature route could be entertaining, so as he approached the edge of the forest, he eyed for a dirt strip. As he stepped onto the path, he was unknowingly agreeing to something he never bargained for. Another item on his list was to look around. It was to see the trees whiz passed, and to hear the water trickling throughout the forest. To smell the dirt and pine or to taste the sweat dripping down on his lips. His routine was to feel the cold air around him and absorb it all. Usually, the voices whirring through the air would be enough for him to lose track of time, but it was only him in the forest, and he kind of liked it that way.

As the path took a turn, he could hear a distant ringing sound. Sounds that had nothing to do with each other; not repeating or rising; but that didn't meant they weren't mesmerizing. Coy stopped running and decided to look for the object making the sounds. Assuming it was a wind-chime of some sort, he scanned the trees for any metallic object, but when he saw the girl in front of him, he stopped in his tracks. He was half-expecting to be the only one out here. During a cold morning like this, who would want to venture out here? Of course, Coy was wrong. If he wanted to, why wouldn't someone else? He eyed the girl tentatively, soaking in all of her features.

The girl's long, wavy brown hair which resembled a dark waterfall bounced every time she made a major movement. And her large brown eyes looked in front of her cautiously as her tune rang throughout her puckered lips. Coy could tell she was tall for a girl, but she still didn't compare to him. As he approached her, he knew exactly what he was going to say. "What's a pretty girl like you doing alone in the forest?" he joked. Whenever the opportunity to flirt arrived, he couldn't pass down the offer. Did he think the girl was attractive? Yes. Would he admit it at that moment? Probably not. Flirting was on his daily routine, too.

There were - of course - a few techniques Coy had to trap a girl. One of the procedures he would have to follow was what he liked to call "Playing it Cool." Looking like he liked the girl already would show weakness. His eyes couldn't largen in excitment because of the girl's presence. He made sure his feet didn't wander towards her. Smile when she smiles, Coy decided. Laugh when she laughs. He smirked back as her previously-whistling lips formed a smile. Noticing her eyes batting, he looked up at her brown eyes and held her gaze for a few seconds. Eye contact was bad, it showed that she already held him.

"I don't know... Maybe I was just waitin' fer someone to come find me."

As the girl giggled, he realized he was only fighting fire with fire, Coy was thinking about pulling out the big guns. This girl knew how the games was played, possibly as well as Coy, but he wasn't going to allow her to get the upperhand. "What's a guy like you doin' out here so early?" Eyeing the girl up and down like a painting, Coy was wondering what her Achilles Heel is. Obviously not on the outside, but the inside. What would get her knees to buckle and heart to flutter? Perhaps she was the romantic type, and was waiting for her Prince Charming to come on a house and swoop her off her feet. That would suck for Coy, because he's no Prince in shining armor. Hopefully, she wasn't one of those girls, because he was going to go in with a different strategy.

"What am I doing here so early?" he mimiced. The obvious and truthful reason was that he was on a jog, but that's too boring. To get this girl in his trap, he was going to have an exciting life. "I was going for a jog," he admitted, "With my dog. But then he ran away." That's exciting, right? And maybe they will catch a dog, just like Coy will catch this girl.

The girl peeked the her right, and Coy supposed she was looking to see if his dog would show up. The pit in his stomach was slowly developing; lying to the girl was not nice; but it's not like he never did that before. Lies radiate from his mouth faster than lightening. His eyes danced around his surroundings; crystal-clear water flowing through the river, leaves turning brown covering every square inch.

"Is he lost? 'Cause I can help find him, if you want," she offers. Help would be nice, but Coy's mind is thinking ahead: What happens if we never find the dog, what will she think? Coy decided it wouldn't matter, he could lie and say that the dog will probably come back home later, it always does. The odds of the girl meeting up with him in more than a week is unlikely, and so that was the decided plan. "No, he ran away but he's not lost," he joked. The pairing of a smirk and chuckle would hopefully hint to the girl that he's joking.

"I'm Lyric, by the way."

The name was different, but not in an out-wordly way. It was a simple name, a pretty one that was rare yet classic. Like the lyrics to a nursery rhyme or anthem. The words to your favorite song. Coy strolled towards the girl smoothly, making sure not to look too engrossed, and stopped a few feet short. "I'm Coy. It's nice to meet you," he says. "My dog, he's um....he has fluffy brown hair. He uh...when I'm standing, he's a bit below my waist. His name's... his name is Carty." And the lies spin from his tongue like the stories his grandma used to tell, and they feel so wrong it's right.

One of those most prominent lessons I had learned in in my life is that if I'm going to lie, I'm going to have to cover it up with even more lies. Even if this creates a vicious circle, lies stacked onto each other, eventually going to fall, it works. One day, the person I fibbed to is going to forget what I said to them, the comment I made about my third cousin will be a distant thought that may appear once in a while, but so what? I can just patch it up again, I always do.

People are so gullible, and I'm not going to defend my honor by saying I don't fall for the craziest lies, and that's why a simple fib causes no harm. "My dog ran away," I told her. And she believed me. Maybe my stories aren't that impressive, maybe I didn't win the Hunger Games and maybe I didn't save the world, but it doesn't matter if the girl comes home with me, and we... well I think you know what. Then, she'll sneak out and we'll never see each other again. (The girls I seduce are only but the breaths I take, white wisps that are there for meer moments, and then gone in a heartbeat.) That may sound rude but there's not nice way to put it.

"He sounds cute," she admits. Look who's talking, I think to myself. "Funny, I lived on a farm my whole life and I ain't never had a dog, just horses. I always wanted one, though. I'm a cuddler, and horses ain't much for cuddlin," she finished. She giggled at her words and I smiled back.

"A'ight, well this dog ain't gonna find itself," I hint. I already had it planned out. We won't find him. I'll assure her, telling her it'll go back home, and then... yeah. "Do you wanna look t'gether or split up?"

Her wanting to ride on a horse with me is obviously a good sign.

Sure, I should be the one making such motives. The girl shouldn't make the first move. It's an unspoken and frustrating rule, although I'll never break it. There have been some contradicting thoughts in my head, a lot of them having to do with homosexual couples or even heterosexual relationships when they girl is much more masculine.

In retrospect, it's really great she suggested a horse as transportation. We'll be going fast, so fast that if my "dog" happened to be behind a tree, we couldn't spot it. It made my plan even better.

Plus, she'd be holding on to me like she might hold her dearest possessions.

I guess there is one teeny-tiny problem: I never rode a horse before.

Admittedly, it looks like a feat I could conquer. Mounting myself atop of a creature. I don't really know how to change his direction, or make his speed accelerate or decrease. I could easily pull this stunt off, and maybe after a few minutes I'll get the hang of things. It'll be as natural as breathing. Wanting to be all masculine and confident, I decided I'll fib a little and say "I know what I'm doing" because it's not like she knows the truth.

As Lyrics whistles, and the horse comes, Coy realizes it may be a bit harder than it seems. I eye it up and down. "So... should I get on first?"

After eyeing the horse more tentatively, Coy wondered if this would be a good time to call it quits and fess up. He had no idea how to mount himself on the beast, nonetheless control it. It would be almost impossible to pull this stunt off, and maybe Lyric would find it kind of cute. Maybe she'll respect his honesty. He placed a masculine hand on the outside, about to hop on, when he decided this might be a good time to tell the truth.

"Er..." he started to say, not sure where to start, and not knowing where he'll finish. "I... uh, I neva done sometin' like this b'fore." Avoiding eye contact - in any situation - was a good thing. First of all, it was plain awkward. Almost like if you looked eye-to-eye with someone, they saw through your clothes, and through your lies.

"But, uh... this isn't a bad time to learn?" Although Coy's fib was down the drain, his fantasy of riding the horse, Lyric holding onto him, was still present.

I look down at my feet. The black of the sneaker blends with the gravel beneath us. The breaths evaporating from my mouth interfere with my vision, but I don't mind. It looks nice. Anything at this moment would like nice, except the look Lyric is probably giving me right now. At first, I assumed she'd freak out on me. But, when I hear a giggle escape from her lips, I can't help but do it in unison. At least I know she's not mad, just amused at my lack of experience.

"It ain't never too late to learn, I guess," she agreed, with yet another giggle. If there's one thing I learned about this girl so far, it's that she's very giggly. Which is cute.

"Okay, well... You just put yer foot in the stirrup right there," she explained, nodding toward it as she spoke. I nod to inform her that I was listening. "Then you grab the horn of the saddle - that's the stick thing up there - and hoist yerself up. Simple as that. I'll hold onto Shadow for ya, and you can sit on his back while I lead him around a little until you get used to the saddle. Then we'll see how you do steerin' by yourself. Just hold onto the reins and you'll be fine. Alright?"

"Alright," I agreed. I find the little thing I'm supposed to use to get up, "the stirrup," and place my foot in it. I grab for the "horn of the saddle," and pull myself up. I straddle myself around the horse and feel like a professional horseback riding, albeit if I were to ride the thing, I would have no clue as of what to do. "Oh... That wasn't too hard," I exclaim, looking down at Lyrics goofily. "Are you coming or what?"
