For a while I muse about her statement. Nobody has ever told me that there was something special about me, that I could keep people calm or that I had something in my eyes...sure the odd girl had been impressed by me punching somebody in the nose or taking my shirt off but that was about it.
"I never knew a girl could be interested in such qualities." I blink a few times to test whether she can still see something in my eyes...as a joke.
The way she laughs and plays with her locks is just too cute and has me smiling in no time. She does that all the time. That little flick of her hair that looks so adorable and feminine. I could never do it. It would simply look silly.
"In two days I'm running out of here..just wait." We both know it's not going to happen but I'll hobble my way out as fast as I can. This situation has been a drag, except for the times when Kalina comes around. Usually I'm worried about my future and whether I'll even have a job once I get back, whether I'll ever walk and run normal again and whether it'll have some impact on my future life. But there are nnot things to bore the beauty by my side with. When she's here I'm on top of the world. Wow. I stop my toughts. Is that how far I've already come?
"It will be." I assure her but then mty face darkens slightly because she assumes I'll be crazy busy and have lots of stuff to catch up on.
"I hope so. Not sure though. Who wants a construction worker who can't walk?" I try to smile but it's hard.
"Oh well, I'll just have to train hard and be on the fast lane of recovery so they can't fire me, right?"
This is really heavy on my heart because for the longest time I've told myself and my boss I'd only be gone for a week or two. That was before I found out my knee cap wouldn't even start to heal without surgery. Now I really don't know whether I'll be on the streets and struggling just to get food on the table once I return.
Kalina manages to put a smile on my face again with her odd pictures of me getting lost in the woods. "You don't know me very well, Kalina. I don't get lost in the woods."
I notice the glance a few people give us. They must assume we're a couple. A nice thought, indeed.
Next thing I know she stumbles and catches herself on my arm rest which puts her hair in my face for a moment. Then I turn my head and am milimeters away from her face. Her breath falls on my skin as I try not to flinch away. She's so close now I could easily place a kiss on her cheek. But would she appreciate that?
reaching around her body to place my hand on her waist I try to stabilize her. "Are you okay?"
My voice is a mere whisper now because I don't want to spoil the closeness.
I let my hand rest where it is because I'm sure she'll move away if she doesn't like it.
From this distance I can see every tiny little spec of darker color in her eyes. Amazing. "You're eyes have a great colour...colours actually."
