Damon thought quicker than I did, pushing me up into the tree, holding me close to his body. In any other moment, in any other circumstance I'm sure I would of had the feeling from before when he touched me. But Evita was in danger, and I was panicking. After Damon had gotten me safely into the tree, the rest was blurred. He said something to me, which I really didn't hear. Then suddenly Damon was gone and I was alone, I tried to watch him but I was too worried about Evita. And then, I realized I didn't have to be. Within minutes Damon had killed the majority of the wolves. But there was an issue. A major one.
"DAMON!" I screeched, watching him fall out of the tree. In sync Evita bolted into the clearing and I slid out of the tree. Evita went straight for the dog approaching Damon and as for me? Well, I went for the son of bitch dog that had tried to kill Evita and was now after the first guy I'd ever liked. I flung one of my knives at it, hitting it in the shoulder blade but I knew better. The dog only faltered. My knives weren't strong enough of the heavy work.
Thinking quickly, I rushed over to where Damon had missed the dog, to where his arrow stuck into the ground. I pulled it up and turned, just as the lead dog charged at me. It knocked me over and suddenly we began to roll over each other. The dog clawing me in the face and arms a couple of times, me stabbing away and it. At one point I managed to get it in the eye. The dog rolled off and screeched just as Evita finished her dog and ran over to finish off the monster, ripping out his throat.
For a moment, there was silence. Then I groaned, feeling the tears in my skin. Damn dog had tore me up bad. But Evita remembered something I didn't. She rushed over to Damon and I followed her quickly, falling to my knees beside him and rolling him onto his back. "You idiot," I muttered to him, using what little medical advise I had gotten from my sister. I felt around his torso, moving to his ribs to check if anything was broken. "Tell me if this hurts," I whispered, breathing heavily before wiping away the blood that had dripped into my eyes.
