Tom was having a great day. He had hunted for an hour and already had a good catch. He had yet to finish checking his traps. He strolled down a path that to an observer was no more than a stupid bunch of grass and weeds. The trail led to a PC hideout that was still unnoticed by the PCs. It had a ton of old school tech. Camoflauge projecters to name one.

He walked through the entrance and noticed a farmilliar smell in the air. He then heard a voice and the sizzling of meat over a fire. He was bumped in the leg and flew what seemed to be ten feet in the air. It happened to be his wolf, Shimmer, coming to greet him. He shushed her as he walked into the kitchen. A person was silouetted by the cooking fire and meat was roasting. He drew a throwing knife and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Seeing tom heading back to the old hideout from when we were introuble in the woods he decided to sneak up on him. Kale threw his gun on his back and tiptoed up behind him and before he could scare him he accidently stepped on a branch "crunch" he he hey tom long time no see.

^{Crys was sitting over the cooking fire, humming slightly to herself. She'd gotten tired and hungry sometime earlier that day, and had nearly passed out from it. She'd put off eating for a couple of days, only having enough for Ivy and Basil, and it was definitely getting to her. So when she realized that her load this afternoon had held surplus she'd rushed to the nearest kitchen she knew of, the one in Tom's old abandoned Peacekeeper Hideout. Her mouth was already watering at the smell of the cooking meat, and it took everything in her not to eat it while it was still cooking.

Which was why she was humming, to distract herself from the growling hunger in her stomach. It was always when she was cooking that she was forced to recognize the lack of food in her stomach. The first day had been okay, but each day after that it got harder to cook Ivy and Basil their meals while hunger panged in her own stomach. She still did it, of course. Always and in everything her brother and sister came first. But it was hard. She wouldn't lie and say it wasn't.

She was pulled from her thoughts by Tom's voice. "What are you doing here?" Her immediate reaction was surprise. He sounded so hostile, as if her thought her a threat. She looked over her shoulder and up at him, brows furrowed in confusion. As soon as she recognized the hunting knife poised ready to strike her, though, her eyebrows shot to her hairline, her blue eyes widening in shock.

And then she smiled a little. She had her back to him, and even when she turned to face him, her face was in shadows. And with her hair tucked into her brown forest cap there was really nothing to identify her as his friend, except perhaps her short stature. And there were people her height and shorter. She just hadn't run into a lot of them. Laughing, she pulled her cap off of her head letting her hair fall from where it had been piled atop her head. It was frizzy and messy from the cap, but it still caught the light, shining bright red. There were few people around with hair like hers, and fewer that would know about this spot. She stood slowly, in case worry had made him dense. "Jeez, Tom. It's just me. Don't you think Shimmer would be a bit less calm if it was someone she didn't know?"

She was still shaking her head at him, laughing a little. She hadn't run into him in the woods since that last time, and it was good to see him back in their element. She didn't know about him, but she always felt calmer out here. Then Kale came in, obviously trying to startle him. She winced. That would have been a bad idea at the moment. Tom probably would have ended up stabbing him in the stomach. "Hey Kale," she said to let him know she was there, standing on her tip toes to look over Tom's shoulder at him. A loud growl, coming not from the wolf but from her stomach, echoed through the room, and she blushed. "Anyone else hungry?" she asked, checking to see if the food she'd been cooking was done. It wasn't, but it was nearly there.}

Tom saw the signature red hair of Crysanthemum aka Crys glint in the firelight. He breathed a sigh of releif and relaxed his muscles. He hadn't seen Crys in the forest since the incident. Was it really that long ago? he thought. He heard the clomp of a boot on concrete and a stick being stepped on. Only one person could be that noisy and know the place. "Hey Kale." Crys said. Then a growl that was louder than Shimmer shook the room. He looked at Crys and supposed it was her stomach.

Tom politely declined the offer of food. "So... What's new?" he said looking at them both. ((ooc: couldn't think of anything better. ))

^{"New?" she asked, pulling the finally cooked food off of the fire. She cut off a piece and blew on it before she took a hesitant bite, wincing at the heat but swallowing anyway. It burnt, but it was food, and she desperately needed it. "Not much," she said. "I haven't been eating, but Basil and Ivy have, so what's important is taken care off. Besides, it's my fault we were low on money for a while. I spent a good amount of our savings in the hob on..."

She broke out into a lopsided grin, pulling a new hunting knife out of the place she kept it sheathed and strapped to her waist. It was so much better than her old one, used to the point where the blade was dangerously thin from too many times sharpening it. It was no wonder she'd left a sizable chip off of the tip of the knife in that tree. "On this," she said, handing offering it to Tom to look at. "I never told you guys but that night, when I stabbed the tree? My knife broke, and I had to get rid of it. I sold it to the weapons dealer at the hob for a small amount of money and then bought that with my emergency fund, since I did technically need it. It's as much my protection as it is a way to provide my family with food."

She left him to check it out. He knew more about these things than she did. She'd been thinking of asking him to tag along and help her pick out a new knife, but in the end she'd decided against it, going on her own. She figured if it had been a stupid choice he'd tell her without hesitation, and then she'd go give the weapons dealer a piece of her mind. And then she'd get a new one. Knife, not weapons dealer.

"So what do you think?" she asked him, returning to her meal. It was heaven in her mouth, quickly filling her long empty stomach. Crys had to remind herself to take it slow she she wouldn't get sick. "Was it a fools choice? Or did I manage to get a good one?"}

Tom studied the knife. It was curved and the hilt felt fine. He touched the blade and knew immediately what it was made of. "Keep this knife clean and safe. The blade is made of a titanium and iron alloy. It won't dull in other words. "Tom said with a hint of jealousy in his voice. He handed it back to her, hilt first.

He then remembered something that he had created. "I made a new clasp for my hood. " he said pointing to the dull metal clasp. The clasp was simple. Made of natural metals it created a circle with a V in the middle. A spear went through both. "We are the forest liberators and vigilantes. I made this so I won't forget." He stared at the ground for a few seconds and told the thought nagging at his mind. "Guys, my brothers are dead. I am the only one in my family left. " Tom then burst into tears.

Bored, that's my mood. I guess my troubles started when I met Crys... I should be happy. But I'm not. I'm not sure myself what happy is anymore. Being tortured by Peacekeepers and then being released. That's something that I don't like. I hated it. I have scars on my back, stomach... and even my neck.

I heard crying. It sounded like one person I knew... Tom. I hurried towards the noise and saw Tom.

"Are you crying because I wasn't here?"

^{Crys glowed at Tom's praise of her knife. But more than that, she loved his apparent envy. It meant that she had made a good choice after all. She was leaning in to get a better look at the clasp Tom had showed them when Tom spoke. "Guys, my brothers are dead. I am the only one in my family left." And then he began to cry.

Crys froze a minute, shocked. And then without thinking she wrapped him in a hug, pulling his head down so that it rested on her shoulder. It was an awkward position because of their height difference, but at the moment she didn't care. All she knew was that her friend was hurting, and she wanted to make him feel better. But she didn't know how. So she hugged him.

She ignored Peeta when he came in with a sarcastic comment. It wasn't the right time, though he couldn't know that. He'd only just came in. "When?" she finally asked Tom. "When did it happen? And how? Why didn't you tell me? You know where I live." Crys couldn't even imagine how she'd handle her brother and sister's deaths. She didn't want to imagine it. But she knew that it would probably break her. Much more than anything in her past ever had.}

"It was three days ago. They had suffered from a new type of flu." Tom said. He tried to regain his composure. "I asked everyone I knew if it could be cured. They said my brothers had maybe a day left. Sure enough, they started getting sicker and sicker until their bodies just shut down." He started crying again, this time he held back some tears. He hadn't been in the district since that day.

After he finished he turned and walked outside giving Peeta a dirty look. He slowly unsheathed his knife.I was going to give this knife to my brothers when they got older. He looked at it and hurled it into a tree. It missed and ended up embedding itself in the soft earth. He turned around and walked back into the hideout he had stayed in for the last three days. He pulled his hood over his eyes and sat in the darkest corner he could find.

He looked at the concerned faces around the room. Where in the blazes is Luther?

(OOC: Sorry I didn't post earlier, I didn't know that this thread was for us.)

Luther walked on a trail that he had created in the woods. So many months ofwalking the same route had dug a little pathway into the sodden ground. The ground was even moe soft than usual from the rain the previous day. Luther occasionally slipped in the mud.

He had a squirrel and a couple of small beavers on his rope of catches that he created, being located on his left shoulder.
The rope was one of his many new inventions that he had created from his last "invention spell" that he had went through.
One of those invention was a rope, with knots every foot or so for his catches for that day. It was similar to a line for keeping your fish on, except for small game. There was a large metal stake at the beginning of the rope, in which he would poke through the animal's jaw, and wuld then slide it down to the lowest knot on the rope.

The rope had 4 knots with an animal on them, so only one knot was left without an animal on them.

Luther took a big whiff, hoping for the smell of the arth after rain, but instead, he got a way more pleasant smell. The smell of meat. He immediately turned his body to the way the smell was coming from, and began to walk toward it.

He slipped many more times on the way to the scent, and he arrived at a building, filled with 3 people, and a wolf. At the sight, he quickly hid behind a tree, and fought the temptation to barge in on the strangers.

He bit his bottom lip, trying to keep himself from yelling out, but the temptation was just too much.

"WHERE IS THIS FOOD!?" He blurted out, after jumping out from behind the tree and in front of the building's entrance. He immediately started to laugh at his comment.

"Oh my gosh, it's you all again? I'm just kidding," Luther spoke through gritted teeth as he fought the urge to laugh again. He walked directly to the entrance and stepped inside.

All of his humor was lost as he saw Tom, his eyes red from crying.
It was strange, like something had hit Luther in the stomach.

"Tom, what happened? What's wrong?" Luther asked while rushing over to the corner that Tom was sitting in.

He sat down beside him, and put an arm around Tom's shoulder.

"Whatever it is, I'm sure that it can get better." Luther's stomach growled louder than it ever had before. "Where in the world is this food I'm smelling?" Luther looked round the room, and saw Crys, eating. Her mouth was filled with food, and a wolf was sitting next to her and staring straight up at her, panting, as if the wolf was trying to get Crys to give it food. "Wow Crys, if you're that hungry, I can cook you up some of this beaver I just caught. We have a small surplus back where I live, so my siblings won't mind."

(OOC: Wow, that's thelongest post that I have ever made.)

Luther popped around a tree. Well speak of the devil. Luther came over and put his hand on Toms shoulder. He had known everyone that was present for only a short time. Luther was joking around with Crys by the fire, Kale sitting by the entrance with his gun ready, and Peeta was leaning against the west wall.

He traced the V on his clasp. This is who my family is now. I need them and they need me. he stood up and walked out the door and retrieved his knife. He smiled as he heard the blade meet the scabbard. This is who I am, and always will be. he walked in the hideout and asked Crys. "Could you bring Luther up to date on my condition? I need to see if your cooking is as good as it usually is. "

But he didn't really care to wait until Crys explained the entire thing to Luther. He didn't feel like having to wait for the entire time. He sighed and turned around. He looked up at the stars. Crys rolled her eyes at him. "You know what, go without food for a week and a half, while still having to cook it for other people, and then make fun of my eating habits," she said, shaking her head. She slipped another piece to Shimmer. "Besides, this is way more than enough. I could probably feed everyone with this."

"Could you bring Luther up to date on my condition? I need to see if your cooking is as good as it usually is," Tom said to her, coming up to them. Crys was happy to note that he seemed better than he had a moment ago.

"You mean mediocre?" she asked, laughing. "You're one of the only people that actually likes my cooking."

She turned to tell Luther what was going on with Tom, mouth open and words ready to escape, when Peeta cut her off. "Luther, in short. His family is dead..." he said, before returning to do his own thing.

Crys shot Peeta a look. There were less blunt ways of saying things, which might have been better in this situation. She turned back to Luther. "Tom's kinda like me, parent-less and taking care of his siblings. Only his brothers got sick, and Tom couldn't do anything. They didn't make it," she said quietly.}

Luther heard the news of Tom's siblings dying, and knew that it must be devastating. He felt tears forming in his eyes but he didn't want to shed thjem as a sign of weakness, so he held them back.

"Tom, I'm really really sorry to hear that. But I think it'd be best to move on to a different topic. ya' know, get our minds off things," Luther said with a hint of desperation in his voice.
"So what's everyone been doing while I've been gone?" Me, not that much, the usual, hunt, work, get whipped, hunt more, work get whipped." Luther's scars were instantly stung by the word 'whipped'. It was so cruel, and nobody could do anything about it. Luther foght the pain and it eventually went away.

"Seriously though, I really do want cook some of this beaver, I haven't had it in weeks. Anybody care to explain to me what this place is? Looks like a Peacekeeper hut to me, but I could always be wrong. And who's this wolf you got here? It's awful pretty."

Luther had been exercising a lot lately, and his arms had gotten bigger. He hoped that one of his friends would notice.

He turned to the others. This wasn't new to any of them except for maybe Peeta. I still want to punch him in the face.
