Azalea smirked back and started to walk back towards the house.
It wasn't a very long way back to her dwelling. Just at some points it was very hard to get through. She crawled through some nettle, only to get her shirt torn even more. Well, it only adds to the act, right? She didn't even bother to dust off when she stood straight again. She just kept her sulky stride as she made her way to her home.
There was a fence that bordered their property. A barbed wire fence that wound around the house in a circular formation and opened where the wires met. But of course, the door was locked. What a drag... stupid Luke. Guess I'll have to go the alternate way. Not that that's a bad thing in this situation.
She rolled up her sleeves, backed up a few paces and then jumped backwards over the fence, with some of the points catching her clothes and landed. She pulled her sleeves down and continued to the house and through the old wooden door.
She didn't have to fake some pants. She had been on her feet all day. "Must you lock the fence, Luke?"
"I wasn't expecting you back until-" he came into the room and stopped right in the middle of is sentence when he saw her. He dropped the cutting knife he was holding and ran over. "What the heck were you doing out there, Lea? Wrestling a bear?!"
She laughed. "Oh no, twice as strong and three times as quick." Then her smile disappeared and she walked past him. "There was an intruder." She took off the coat and threw it near the hearth.
"Intruder?" Luke followed her. "How? And... what exactly happened?"
"We fought." she muttered gravely. "That girl had pretty sharp nails, if you ask me. And her teeth weren't so bad either."
"It was a girl? Where is she now?"
"Probably where I left her." she narrowed her eyes and her tone suggested that she didn't really want to talk about it.
"Where you left her? Lea, did you kill her?!" Luke pounded a fist on the table beside him.
"Well, what was I supposed to do, let her go?!" she spun around angrily. "She probably would have attacked someone else!"
Luke put his fingers to his temple, and grabbed his coat. "Oh my gosh, Lea. What were you thinking!?!" he started to head out the door.
This is going very well. she inwardly smirked and then followed him. "Why do you care?! She probably would have gotten to you or Minnie if I didn't do something!"
"How old did she look?"
"What?"
"How old did she look!? You heard me!"
"Gosh! She looked about my age, if you're just so dying to know!"
Luke groaned and kept walking, through the fence and pushed Lea in front of him. "Go on, lead."
