Meet me on the equinox
Meet me half way
When the sun is perched at it's highest peak
In the middle of the day
Meet me on the equinox
Meet me half way
When the sun is perched at it's highest peak
In the middle of the day
Annie sat silently as she waited to hear the familiar snap of an animal getting caught in the many snares and traps she had set up around her.
Today was a hollow day. She had already eaten two fish, a loaf of bread and enough berries for two people.
It had rained last night, bringing new life into the forest. The sun continued to shine over the forest, which should be enough to entice the abundant wildlife that littered the forest to come out and feast of the newly grown roots and grasses on the muddy floor.
Annie was slowly trying to make herself brave enough to actually used the weapons her brother had carefully constructed for her. She held her hunting knife gingerly in her hand, terrified of the violence it could bring in the wrong hands. She didn't want to kill even an animal- in the beginning, she refused to hunt with her brother and would go and gather berries and vegetables instead.
She soon learned she had a nifty talent for making traps, this was her first step into the world of the true hunter. She could now place traps and remove the dead animal without feeling an overwhelming sense of nausea. She recently had brought herself to skin and prepare a rabbit without almost fainting.
Using her knife to kill will be her next step before her brother would let her loose with her own, custom made, bow and arrow set.
Annie sighed. She had been waiting for two hours now for a catch, yet nothing came. The sun was high in the sky, indicating that it was at least noon.
Perhaps she would catch something big today to show off to her brother.
