A day In the Woods (Popcap/Thundy)

The day was young, no more than 10 in the afternoon, judging by the position of the sun and the day was cool. With jacket done up to my neck and my game bag slung securely over my shoulder, I scaled the large tree in front of me. I had just finished placing a few snares around the area, in hopes of catching some pray. But for those animals that were not caught by my trap, I would catch by knife. I like to spend my time in the forest high up in trees, opposed to down on the ground. I feel safer in the trees, where anyone and anything would be spotted before me.
I drifted into thoughts of The Games, and didn’t notice anybody approach until I heard the snapping of twigs below my tree. My quick reflexes allowed me to have my knife in my hand at the ready-to-throw possession in a matter of seconds, but it was not an animal before me. It was a boy.
“Hello there” I called down.
