It's late and I have no idea what I'm doing. These ideas may be subject to immediate deletion. xD
Name of Mutt: Para-birds.
Brief Summary: These seemingly harmless, though flamboyant, birds were originally developed as an innocent creature. They have lush, glossy plumes and a coat of thick feathers in ombre tones of every hue covering their bodies, which resemble that of a peacock. They're a mix of all kinds of tropical birds, and they were just supposed to be an easy fix to Capitol citizens complaining about dyed feathers running or fake feathers being too cheap. While in the early stages of creation, they were made to secrete a sweet perfume as well as a thick skin that has next to no nerve endings, as they could make for a showy pet and convenient accessory store. However, something went wrong, and now the fumes that rub off on their feathers and are left on grasses and trees can cause paralysis, hence their name.
Poision, Edible, or Neither? Poisonous.
Name of Mutt: Scorchmanders
Brief Summary: During the rebellion, fires became a large problem for the Capitol. Not necessarily on their own lands, but certainly when trying to cause damage without leaving survivors when they couldn't get close enough to see if there was anyone left. So they developed the Scorchmanders. These lizard-like creatures are roughly the same size as their "parent species," the komodo dragon. The Capitol took this already dangerous, violent species and built up the strength in it's back legs and reinforced its scales, creating a reptile that was completely impervious to heat and could actively use its forelegs to snatch up any resources that may be left behind in the case of a fire, as well as pulling any stragglers back into their camps to burn. Their eyelids are the only things protecting their vision from flames though, forcing them into temporary blindness when necessary. The only places on their bodies that aren't covered with scales are the insides of their mouths, though their stomachs and throats are covered in fireproof skin that is puncturable. Their pelts could come in handy if you happen to be able to kill one.
Poision, Edible, or Neither? Neither.
