The Bloodbath

Being prepped and prepared for the arena consisted of a week of things both delightful and non enjoyable. The food wasn’t that enjoyable. Along with being fussed over constantly. My stylist complaining or gushing over how beautiful I was. I was merely something for them to play with. I was well taken care of. They made me feel slightly like a human with them; despite my horrid attitude towards them. They made me feel like I wasn’t going to die in the Games. They made me feel something of a sliver of sympathy for those other tributes. I had told them all they needed to hear. I had made up my mind on who I would begin with. Of who would help me out in the beginning days. Those days where I struggled with holding onto the humanity that I had finally realized I had lost track of.

The night before me and Jabber left, we ate all together. Our two stylists, our escort, and both of us. the tributes. It was a simple farewell dinner. The last official meal we would have besides our breakfast the next day. We could either damage ourselves by eating too much or too little. We would have to eat enough to get us just right. All that I had was a salade. Something that I figured would satisfy me. After what occurred in my Private Training Session I wasn’t too keen on having any sort of meet. I would be eating more than enough plants anyways. Something that I needed to get used to. Something that I didn’t want to get used to.

After finishing up dinner, I pulled out something for dessert. I grabbed a slice of what my escort and stylist had told me what was a caramel cake. It was a simple yellow cake with caramel drizzled over top in the nicest fashion. Overall it wasn’t too bad, I had eaten it before and enjoyed it. It wasn’t my favorite though. I prefered one of the desserts with marshmallows on top. My brothers, would have enjoyed either or much like I did. The texture of the caramel seemed a bit too thick compared to the texture of the cake. I would’ve grabbed a slice of a cake with marshmallow frosting if we had any still, but there was none left.




That’s when our escort ushered both of us off to bed for some beauty sleep as she had called it. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get to sleep. My mind would be thinking of all of the possible scenarios running through my head. Trying to figure out when I would die. How I would die. That was something that scared me. The idea of dying a gruesome death. There would be death all around me but I could only worry about my own. Muskox and Dhaval wouldn’t. They would be thinking of how to kill others. What could they do to get ahead. To better themselves. That’s what I should be thinking of. Not thinking of my death and how close it might be. No, I would live and I would make it. That’s all that mattered. After preparing for sleep I laid my head down on the soft warm bed. This would be the last time that I would sleep in a bed for a long while. I would come back home and I would sleep with my brothers. I would sleep with my family. That’s all that really mattered.

My eyes slowly crept down on themselves as I faded into sleep. Good Night. The moon shown in and covered the room in a dimly lit setting. I stirred around for a moment, before sitting up and looking around at my surroundings. Dhaval and Muskox hovered over me, and tears of relief fell from my eyes. They were okay. I was okay. I opened my arms and moved over to hug them tightly, but both of them seemed terrified of me. They seemed scared. When I got up from my bed they moved away from me. They looked at me like I was a sort of monster. Like I was a beast. When I looked around, I realized that they weren’t the only ones there. I was there too. My body in a coffin. Sent back to my home.

Frantically, I looked around and I saw my parents holding a baby in their arms. ”Mom?” I move closer to them. Making away from Muskox and Dhaval. Ignoring their tear stained faces. Dad?” I couldn’t hear any crying from the baby. My parent’s mouths moved but nothing came out. The silence echoing endlessly in my head. ”MOM? DAD? CAN YOU HEAR ME?” I yelled but nobody responded. I walked up to my parents and tried to get their attention. I tried to get the baby’s attention. Nothing came. Everything was gone. I was dead and alone. Nobody to spend the afterlife with. I wasn’t heard, or anything. My parents loved my child. My brothers were grieving. This wasn’t what I wanted. It wasn’t what I wanted at all.

That’s when I woke up in a sweat. My body was covered in it despite sleeping nude. I had fought with my blankets and everything. I quickly looked around the room. I was still in the Capitol. Still alive. Still breathing. That was all that really mattered. I still had a chance. I would live. My life was on the line and I would live. I got up, put some pajamas on, and entered the room where everybody was eating. Grabbed a bowl of cereal for myself, and a glass of orange juice. I made way. I was breathing. I was still alive. I ate and talked. I walked around. Life was here.

Everything after that is a blurr. I don’t feel anything. I don’t know if I’m still breathing. My heart is still beating though. The fear is there. I can smell it. Everything is stained with red. Is it my blood. Is it the end of my life. No it can’t be. It won’t be. I know myself better then this . I will live. I can survive, because I am a killer. Everything will stay the same

My stylist tries talking to me but I ignore her. My life, is this. I will be forever alive. That’s all that really matters. I breath. I take pride in what I do. I will smell the blood. I will eat the meat. I am in the arena, and the arena is in me. I will live. I will survive. THe tube lifts me up into the corucopia. A thick fog is around me. I look around for my allies. I spot them. I see everyone. The countdown starts.

I run like hell. As does everyone else. Into the battle, I go. This will not be the end.

I ran. I ran into the fray. Frantically looking around my my alliance members. My second family. Quickly, i spotted them. My life was this. I am here. I can win. Running into this life was something else. I was a tribute. I was no longer Akasha. I was an animal. I went in to where everyone was and attacked with my bare fists.
