The distances between Faith and Jack was weighing heavy on Faith's spirit, who wanted nothing more then her friend back. Unable to understand what it was she did wrong, Faith was too stubborn to ask. At least a few waves and smiles were exchanged every once in a while, some form of communication from someone actually her age.
The usual drop off routine, Faith didn't bother asking if Jack wanted to join her as he always did. Today was special though, with her father's offer to take a little of the money at the end and buy a new medicine book. Something to distract her, it sounded perfect. Dropping the food off went a lot faster being alone and having a prize at the end. After a long time in the bookstore, picking out the perfect one, Faith finally made her way home with the book securely in her arms the whole way back.
Taking a second to watch Jack on the farm, Faith had really grown to miss him within just a few days of only small greetings. Eventually he will explain his reasoning of why he was upset at her, until then Faith returned in the home.
Surprisingly her Father and step-mother were in the living room with another younger gentlemen. Faith's father never stopped working so early, and it was after lunch break. Freezing in her place, Faith realized what was going on as she gazed down to the book in her arms.
"Father." Faith greeted with a smile and a kiss on his cheek. Quickly she made her way into the kitchen in hope to avoid what she believed her father was doing.
"Faith that's no way to treat a guest." Her father stops her in her tracks with his words that force her to turn around and join them in the living room. "This is Thomas." Her father introduced.
"Nice to meet you." Faith smiled and attempted to walk away again.
"Sit." Her father demanded, which she was quick to follow. Faith knew better then to not listen to her father. "Thomas's parents own a very wealthy shop in town." Her father hints with a smile. "Your mother and I haven known his parents for a while and we've all been hoping since you've been babies you'd become fond of each other in older age." Her father explains that turns Faith's face pale. "You're going out this friday."
Why did the guy seem so happy about it? How sick, who could be happy about a planned relationship. Meeting his eyes, Faith quickly pulled away because she knew she could never like such a guy. She knew the difference between the poor and wealthy people, and the wealthy ones were always snots. That was the type of guy Faith despised like the peacekeepers that didn't know boundaries.
"She's not my mother." Faith mutters shoving the book, she was just so happy about getting, to her Father. "And he's never going to be.." Faith stopped herself. "For me." She couldn't say he wasn't Jack.
"He will if I have any say." Her Father spits out, furious that his daughter was going against what he was saying.
With nothing left to say, Faith darted out of the house. Unsure of what direction she was headed, Faith only wanted to get away.
