The fact that Ash turned down her offer to play darts left Nica slightly disappointed but she wasn't ready to give up on him.
"How is it possible that you've never played darts before?" This guy was starting to become somewhat of a project that needed some work.
I'm too busy watching the guys on stage and how quickly their fingers are picking away at the strings of their wooden instruments. "Amazing." I mutter to myself. I've learned to play the banjo when I was a kid from my grandmother but that was ages ago.
That Nica likes the music is actually a bonus point for her, so I turn towards her and ask. "Really? Didn't picture you as a girl, who likes country music. Where are you from?" I decided to quit circlinga round and ask her flat out.
She eyes me for a moment then says. "Pretty far away."
I raise my brow and cock my head to the side to let her know I'd like her to be more precise so finally she offers one bit of information.
"Granville."
Since I've never even heard the name of the town I cast a quick glance at Ash but who am I kidding. All he knows is trees and grass.
"Never heard of it."
"As I said. It's far away."
Since my friend offered us another beer I decide to finish mine and then get up. "Scuse me. Bathroom."
For a moment I leave them alone but when I come back their still engaged in their conversation so I decide to ask the guys on the stage, who are now in between songs to borrow his Banjo. He agrees and hands it over so I fiddle around with it. the tune that comes out is not really what everyone wants to hear. At first at least. After a while I remember the right strings to hold down and the right picking pattern. That's when it becomes and we actually start jamming together. A few notes are all over the place but mostly it sounds alright and nobody here really cares anyway.
"Your friend seems to have other qualities than friendliness." Nice tells Ash and gives him a really nice smile.
"I'd like to know more about you. You're different than all these show offs in here."
