Importance...Listening...Info...Body...Speaking
Sitting around the Dining Hall, with all 23 of the other tributes was slightly unnerving. Majority of the others were talking and having a decent chat, but Akasha simply sat there and listened to those around her. It was only the first day of training after all. Yet majority of the people already had made friends and decided who they wanted to be friends with. Who they wanted to stick around with. That slightly unnerved her a bit. All that she was focused on was trying to get adjusted to Capitol life while she lived there. It was only a week or so but still. Everything was so out of the ordinary. The way people dressed and behaved. On top of that all she was a tribute; she was either going to come back alive or dead.
Death. That was something that she didn’t really want to think about. She had nightmares about her parents and seeing their bodies. Knowing that they were dead. Back then she knew that she wanted to die too, but she talked herself out of it for Muskox and Dhaval. They were the ones who motivated her and kept her going. They were strong and could fend for themselves, but Aka broke down eventually. That’s how things worked out. "If it wasn't for cell death in the embryonic stage of development, humans would have webbed fingers,"
Akasha then turned her attention over to the girl who she had seen as one of the two District 12 tributes. She was small and tiny. She reminded Aka of when Dhaval and Musk were that small. Of when she was that small; all of them were so carefree, and innocent. But her comment made her think of her baby. Of her stillborn child. It ached and tore at her heart. For the baby who didn’t live. For the mother that she wouldn’t be.
That’s when the girl from 12 climbs on top of the table. It wasn’t safe for her to be up there. It wasn’t safe for anyone to go any higher and yet they did. They did of their own decision, and a few were forced to."Hi... everybody," The girl paused briefly for a moment and then continued on after looking at all of the tributes. Would I have to kill her?"My name is Sierra, and I think, if you want, maybe... we could just take a moment to wish?" On occasion the girl stumbled and Akasha couldn’t help but faintly smile at her. She looks so weak and so fragile, yet so strong. Somebody that could go far and make it into a new world. A world where she would live on and tell her children stories."My sister- she was in the Games last year, and the last thing she told me was that she should have asked for a bigger wish” The girl then holds out a notepad, a pen, and an empty jar labeled ‘wishes’. That’s when Aka knows for sure that this little girl is strong and mighty. She may look weak, but she’s one of the few who have been broken and simply want to live for once. To be free and to fly. To live truthfully, and without fear of what comes next. ."I'd like it very much if you could all make one - before we go into the arena, I want to know that everyone is hoping for something." Simply like that she hops down off of the table, and starts handing out pieces of paper to those who want to write down their wishes.
A few people got up to go make their wishes, and others remained seating. A few sit there thinking in contemplation and others not really even giving a care. That’s when Akasha’s faint smile disappeared. Her mind wandered around looking at each wish that popped into her own little head of hers. Some so obvious as to what each of them wanted. Others that belonged to her and to her alone. What would her brothers wish for? What would her parents wish for? What did some of the other tributes wish for? Her mind buzzed and buzzed. The gears moving around. They weren’t the type to stop moving around.
Eventually, her feet began moving of their own accord. She walked over to Sierra, grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. Then she let her hands do their own writing. In all honesty, she had no idea what she was going to wish for, but she knew that it would simply come to her. It would be something that she had always wanted. It was something that she could still be if she really wanted it to be that way. It all was a matter of time, and what fate had in store for her. With a soft smile, and an appreciative look she put her wish inside the jar. Catching a brief glance at other wishes that she had seen in there. Life. Warmth. A purpose. Wings. Remembered. Friend. Forgive. Home. She wished that all of those could come true, and she knew that eventually they all might.
As she walked away from Sierra and into her respective seat, she smiled a sorrowful smile. She swallowed that lump of guilt and sadness knowing that there was only one way out of this. She knew that 23 of them would eventually die. All she could think about was how she wished that nobody had to die. That this was all a nightmare and all of her problems disappeared, but it was all so real. So dreadfully real. That’s why she wished to be a better sister.
