Kalina Naiser
The days seemed to wander away for Kalina. Each day, a new memory to think about. A new feeling toward Tyler, the man she was falling for harder each day. From the first day till now, their relationship had never been dull. Something was always happening in order to bring them closer and more intimate. Such things like his surgery and the storm and even the annoying neighbor, who was forced to move out and dealt with accordingly. Each one held a significance to their relationship. Each one seemed to be part of the hardships and revelations that they had overcame each time. Their presence for each other was strengthening their bond.
Kalina stared up at the wall in her bedroom. Her eyes following the dull pattern of age spots in the paint until she would stop at the corner and sigh. A smile forever painted on her face. Her parents had gone out to work and her little sister was attending classes. She had taken the day to herself, for plans with Tyler. Today was going to be the day that she would introduce him to her family, but she hadn't told him that. They were to meet up right after lunch, then she would spring it on him and lead him back to her place and then wait until everyone had gotten home. Her parents were expecting him that night and Kalina would prepare the meal, but the longer she lay in the bed, the more anxious she got. Without another passing moment, she stood from the bed, and stretched. The sun already gracing her window with its presence that made her smile.
"Tyler..." She said outloud to the empty house, letting his name play over in her head a few times. She dropped her head downward, letting her hair cascade over her shoulders. Allowing herself a few more moments to extract a yawn, she left her room and walked to the bathroom. She flicked on the light, letting the dull yellow hue illuminate her surroundings. She placed a hand up to her shoulder and pulled the fabric of her night shirt down. In the mirror, she saw the bruise was still there, but with each passing day she noticed how much lighter it was getting. Each day, she would remember the good thing about the mark. THe answer was always Tyler.
"Almost gone... thank goodness." She said to herself and traced the outline of it with her finger. It still held some tenderness in it, but she ultimately remembered that the day she got the bruise, he had asked her to be his girlfriend. The corner of her lips rose up slightly, still rememering his words and the way he protected her, then comforted her. How much they had become closer due to the stupidity of one man. One drunken man who couldn't leave well enough alone. She sighed and returned the fabric to where it was, letting it rub against her skin softly. She left the bathroom and turned the light off.
Back in her room, she took the time to look in the closet and search for an outfit. One flirty, yet not too much. One that she would have to wear, even in the presence of her parents, so her choice was that of a long dress, slightly low at the bodice. The dull color of pink with a fading shade of tan lined the bottom of the dress. It hugged her petitie body in all the right ways, showing the curves where need be. She took the time to fix her hair, letting the natural curls fall over her shoulders laying over the light jacket that she had picked out. Slipping on a pair of flats, she exited her house and left for town. It was getting close to time to meet up with Tyler at the cafe where they had been stranded at during the storm. She smiled, remembering the touch of his comfort.
She took the walk with ease. She let only thoughts of Tyler fill her head and then from what to come that night. How he was going to react when he would meet her parents. How her parents would react when they met him. How her little sister was going to act since she had told her alot of Tyler since day one. How she always considered Tyler to be her sister knight in shining armour as she had stated in her stories. Her sister never revealed the story of the bruise that she had gotten. It only made Lotus glad that she had Tyler. It was daily talk for them.
THe cafe came into view and as Kalina approached it, she felt butterflies in her stomach. The anticipation to see Tyler did that to her every time. There was only a few people outside at the tables and one table was vacant. Pulling out the chair, she sat down, crossing one leg over the other and waited. Her eyes peering out to the roads, waiting. Watching. Wondering.
