pleasing or appealing to the senses
Candace is attractive, and she knows it. She uses her looks to her advantage, constantly flaunting them where it will help her get what she wants. She has brunette hair that frames her face in waves, and stops just below her shoulders. She has an oval face and defined cheekbones. Her eyes are a sparkling light green and almond shaped, framed by a thick layer of eyelashes that are usually coated in mascara and arched eyebrows. Her pointed nose is slight crooked, and her full, dark lips are often curved into a smile, forming creases in her rosy cheeks. Sure, Candace never claimed to be perfect, but she has claimed to be beautiful, and not many would disagree with her.
Candace is also fairly tall at 5'7, which is usually heightened by her choice of footwear, which, as long as she isn't doing anything active, tends to have some form of a heel. Her long legs make up most of her height, and she has particularly large thighs, which is made up of muscle from the large amounts of running she does. She is a healthy weight, growing up with a steady amount of healthy foods and a large amount of exercise. She is also tanned, the coastal area of District Four only helping her skin tone, which is a light golden colour.
She doesn't tend to get freckles, but when she does, they're very evident and very dark. She has a few spread around her face and one or two more on her arms. And spots? What spots? That's not to say that Candace doesn't get spots (she's a sixteen year old girl, of course she gets spots), she just simply cakes on so much make up it's impossible to tell unless you're close up, and actually searching for spots.
Her fashion sense is very much whatever is in-style. Candace likes to follow the latest trends, as long as they flatter her, simply because she likes to look her very best. Yes, some people call her vain - or rather, a lot of people call her vain, but Candace simply shrugs it off. "I like to look attractive, what's wrong with that?"
Personality
» wit • ty
showing or characterized by quick and inventive verbal humor
The main aspect of Candace's personality, at least towards most people, is her wit. Any situation you throw at her, rest assured, Candace will have a witty remark or sarcastic retort at her disposal. Her sense of humor is very much based around sarcasm and irony, and she has a strange love of puns and clever jokes. She also uses her wit in another sense of her persona; her thick skin. Whether or not it is always true, Candace likes to make people think that she is unaffected by any insult thrown her way, and her way of doing so is by simply firing a witty retort back at whoever insulted her. Though Candace may like to appear thick-skinned, this is not always the case. Insults against things she is already self-conscious about (appearance wise, this is generally about her nose, and personality wise, this is generally about her sometimes cold behavior e.g. she finds it hard to say sorry) tend to affect her the most, and she can dwell on them for weeks before she finally forgets about the insult.
One of her personality traits she isn't too fond of is her inability to admit she is wrong. Most likely coming from the fact that she is very stubborn, Candace simply refuses to tell others that she is wrong, even if she knows she is. This also stops her from being able to say sorry, as she feels as though she is admitting failure, which can often lead to her coming across as very rude. She also gets frustrated easily when she can't understand or do something, simply because she finds asking for help such a struggle.
Candace, unlike most people, finds initiating conversations easy, even with people she has never met before. Candace has never felt particularly uncomfortable about strangers, which has lead to a lot of one-sided conversations on her part as the stranger awkwardly shuffles in their seat, not used to talking to people they don't know very well. She's fairly chatty, too - though bubbly is not a word you would use to describe Candace, she simply has a lot to say and she isn't afraid to say it.
Candace has never had much interest in reading. She's not very literate, and often gets caught at confusing words. There was never much variety of books at her home, only very old ones where the character's speak differently, and after starting a few books, she gave up and kept the reading to school. English is not her strong point at all, really, seeing as she isn;t very good at spelling either. The subject that Candace does excel at is maths. She is amazing with numbers, multiplying and dividing before most people have even comprehended the sum.
Candace is sly and manipulative when she needs to be, or simply when she thinks it's in her best interests. This is when she uses her appearance to her advantage, when it comes to the opposite sex. She's also a great liar and actress, and just like her witty retorts, she's able to come up with believable lies almost on the spot in most situations.
Vain? Yes, Candace is very much so. Her appearance is very important to her, and the appearance of others', for that matter. She will judge you on your appearance, whether intentional or not. What many people seem to assume, however, is that in being vain, she is obsessed with how she looks, or has to constantly be wearing designer outfits twenty-four seven. This is not the case. Candace is just as happy to go out wearing tracksuit bottoms and a tank top, as long as it's for a good reason. If she's simply going down to the market, she's not going to wear a formal dress. However, she does like to dress well - if nothing else, she feels much more confident when she thinks she looks beautiful. She does take her appearance seriously, though this is probably a lot to do with the fact that she has been complimented on it her whole life, and as she got older has also learned to use it to her advantage. History

the duration of a person's life
Candace Justice Gates was born to Acacia and Damion Gates, the second child after her two year old brother, Anton. Growing up in District Four, Candace was always going to be a bit spoiled, and being the youngest and only girl in the family helped. She was fawned over by others for being so adorable, and as she got older, for being attractive. This boosted her ego enormously, and resulted in her being very cocky and full of herself.
Candace was never overly close with her parents, who both spent most of their time at work. Her mother worked in fishing whilst her father made fishing rods. Up until the age of eight, Candace had a nanny. For the first six years it was her grandmother, but after she passed away when Candace was six, they had a teenage girl called System. She usually just sat in front of the television and let the children play among themselves. Candace spent most of her time playing with her older brother, and as a result definitely ended up looking up to him a bit.
When her brother turned ten years old, her mother quit her job to train him. Candace started her training two years later, when she turned ten, though she had already learned some of her training from her brother before her. Unlike her brother, however, she wasn't a natural at fighting. She didn't have much strength in her arms and had terrible aim. Six years later, of course she has improved, but she is weak in comparison to her older brother, who her parents consider a 'prodigy'.
As far as school went, Candace was never really bothered about school, except where it came to maths. Candace had always been a popular girl, though a lot of people found her annoying and hated her. She would pretend to ignore them, but it was hard when she knew that even her two best friends, Lauren and Rachelle, talked about her behind her back. [/color]

I didn't use a face claim for her, the picture is simply one I found online. It doesn't show her face, so I figured it would be okay to use her as a representation for Candace.
