Gala Thomas
Age Thirteen
District Two
Trapeze Twin
The new trainer was willing to do anything to rid of the twins, either that was her goal or to figure out how to break them. For Gwen it was easy to follow directions, even through the challenges that kept pushing her. As for Gala though she had no interest in all at listening in the first place, let alone when she could feel that all of it was simply to anger her. Her shoulder was still extremely painful from refusing to take a break, which made it even worse to follow orders. Today the pain was waking up extremely early for practice. Once again she sat on the edge of one of the private small gym, refusing to train. She attempted to stare out of the window for distractions but the frost blocked any sight of the outside district. As soon as Gwen and her trainer seemed distracted enough Gala to no surprise ditched again.
It wasn't Gala strong suit to be sneaky like her twin, but after years and years of watching her, she had picked up the talent. She probably had about half an hour before they even realized she was gone. The outside was more freezing then it looked from the frosted windows, and the sun was hardly ready to start warming the earth. For protecting Gala wrapped up in her winter jacket, pulling the hoodie over her blonde head. The cold constantly stiffened her wounded shoulder, which was nearly as painful as when the knife first cut her skin.
Two kids ran through the field a distance away, and of course as always gained Gala's attention. It appeared to be one of those young love birds sneaking off to make-out, except that it was early and Careers weren't the lovey dovey type. With interest gained Gala decided to follow. Immediately she could recognize Matthew's voice. Anger filled into her just as fast from the last encounter he had with her twin sister. Pulling a little thirteen year old into a pool wasn't cool, especially when he didn't realize she couldn't swim. Poor Gwen. Now Gala attempted to stay on her twin's side and not let a trainer get in the way of them. She hid behind trees and pushes until getting a closer view.
When Gala could finally see who Matthew was with she was completely shocked...it was a girl! Definitely older then the twins which was extremely relieving. If Matthew began training another girl Gala would be pissed. But if he wanted to sneak around with one to go make-out with she could careless...though that sounded very odd due to the fact Matthew hated girls. Wouldn't that mean in every way? As soon as their voices, shadows, and figures weren't out of sight Gala escaped from her hiding position. A tall fence blocked going any further, and judging by the jingling sounds they both had jumped over it. Certainly she had witnessed a fence before, but none as tall and secure as this one. This didn't seem right.
Stepping closer with cation Gala got a better view of what was past the fence, focusing her eyes to go between the wires. All trees and nature, how beautiful yet scary. This must be the woods that are always talked about, the end of the district, and the dangerous forbidden area...and Matthew called Gala stupid! She got into loads of trouble, but none that high. That's where her and her sisters' mother went, and lots of times she had to hold Gwen back from finding this fence. Gwen was determined to search for their Mother, and that was her only fault of being stupid.
Looking back Gala knew that was the end of the line for her, she would not be following them any further. She looked back and noticed a small trail, hardly covered and nearly pointing to the fence. With an eye roll Gala began erasing any marks of human footsteps, both hers and theirs. Sure she was furious with Matthew, and had no clue who the chick was, but she'd still prevent them from getting into trouble. She traced the footsteps all the way back to the gym where the stuff laid. Another eye roll. Gala had never even been to the fence, let alone over it, and was smart enough to know if a little girl like her could find this stuff, anyone could.
Once closer a hound dog that was used to sniff out anyone or anything going sniffing a jacket came into view. Judging by the circumstance and the size it had to of been the chick's that was with Matthew. The dog's teeth and expression was terrifying but without thinking Gala snatched it away. All of a sudden the dog went sprinting off in the exact direction Gala had came from. "NO!" She screamed, knowing exactly which two victims this dog was after. As fast as her legs could cary her she ran after the dog, with no clue what she'd do if she actually caught up. That dog looked deadly. Luckily for Gala it slipped under the fence, but not so lucky for anyone on the outside.
---
Everyday Gala checked the training gym for Matthew, and for a couple of days there was no sign. How scared she was for him and the poor girl he was probably with. Knowing Matthew, it was probably all his fault. But the was a bias opinion from Gala. She didn't get the perfect sight of the girl either, but she didn't show up either. Still Gala held her jacket in her bag, fearful that the hound dog would find it and in result find Matthew and his friend...that's a chick. How that was a weird concept for Gala. So much for the guy that hated girls.
Now that she considered it Gala was a bit pissed at the fact Matthew was sneaking off with an older girl, but couldn't train a young one? The entire reason he dropped her as a trainee was due to her being a girl...and now he was having no problem with it. By the time Gala found Matthew back and safe within the district, concern for him had completely slipped. The anger over throwing her twin in the pool, ditching her with a bleeding shoulder, refusing to train her again, all the anger was back.
It was a little relieving to see Matthew back, but Gala ignored that feeling. Right now she had lost her only chance at having a brotherly figure, she was pissed. Holding up the girl's jacket Gala waited for Matthew to notice. Talking out here would be stupid, he did something illegal and Gala was smart enough to discuss it somewhere secluded. Once his eyes were upon her and the jacket, Gala walked away expecting to be followed.
