"I thought they separated age groups just a little!" Gala comments, now worried because older kids were at least a head taller then her. "By like a year or two?" Now she becomes worried and for a good reason. Her assumption might land her in a heap of trouble.
"Don't assume." I smirk at her.
"Plus you can always withdraw."
Once we are inside the gym she's already rid herself of her worries..blame it on childish naivety. I'm still not really sure what she should be training now that we're both only working at 50%. "How about survival techniques. Let's make sure you can get a fire going out there and build shelter...how about that? Grab the first aid kitt, too." My recent experience has taught me that this knowledge might be more important than combat skills.
Instead of following me out the back door she asks a very uncomfortable question. "So where'd you and that girl go?" Her voice is low so nobody else can hear it, yet it makes me stop dead in my tracks, turn towards her and point at her. "Don't!"
I come back a few steps and lower my voice as well. "I think you've already figured out that whatever we did was something that should stay between us, so you're better off not asking any questions."
My voice isn't threatening right now because I hope she'll understand even without being threatened.
"The less you know the better."
Then I turn around and walk out of the back doors, stiff and sore...it wouldn't really be that hard for her to put two and two together, one would think.
Outside I find a spot on the grass patch next to the big sports fields. The weather is quite uncomfortable today. Grey and rainy, cold enough to almost be snowing. A fire is not a bad idea.
I pull the hood of my jacket over my head and motion for the trees nearby.
"You know how to build a fire?"
"Don't assume." I smirk at her.
