Jaime Alexander Smith,
ALL AROUND ME ARE FAMILIAR FACE, WORN OUT PLACES, WORN OUT FACES
------------------------------------------------------------------
My hand pushed hers away from my mouth trying to make me be quiet. I would say it all the time if I had too. Charlotte. Charlotte. Charlotte. I knew Charlie hated being called by her real name, Charlotte. I think it's a beautiful name. It means 'free man' which really describes Charlie in many ways. But she hates it. Maybe its because it's not as tough sounding as Charlie. And if theres anything Charlie wants its to be strong. She got upset with me when I called her that. I almost regretted calling her Charlotte because I knew her wrath was probably coming. But it got her attention. And that's what I needed right now. Just for her to listen to me for once. She owned it to me. She didn't listen to me when I told her to talk it out so I should get this one. It's only fair.
I almost laugh at myself. Almost everyone in the family knew Charlie wasn't the one for school. She thought it was pointless and stupid. I don't think she even shows up anymore. Maybe that's why people keep bullying me even more now. They know my main protector is gone. I think school is really important and that's why I go. District 6 is filled with science and jobs that could make some money if you were smart. I want to be a doctor when I grow up. I am really good at nursing people back to health so why not do something I am good at. I don't think Charlie has any longing to be a doctor or scientist. But I do. That's why I still go to school and suffer the physical pain. I know Charlie wouldn't mind if I dropped out but I staid in. It's a ticket to a better life.
She grabbed her beer back and I gave it to her. Why did I do that? The bar tender was coming towards us and I gave him a stern luck. He nodded and helped someone else. There was no way she was drinking any more on my watch. At first she refused to come home. She blew it off with a sarcastic comment but she agreed with me finally. "Thanks you." I say. LI know you don't think it but they little ones need you. You are the mother figure." I had to remind her.
IT'S A VERY, VERY, MAD WORLD!
BRIGHT AND EARLY FOR THEIR DAILY RACES, GOING NOWHERE, GOING NOWHERE!
