It turned into as if nothing was wrong. His dad hadn't just beat him, his place in his own home wasn't terminated. It was just Izabella and himself. Leaving the property of Austin's home, he was playfully being pulled along by Izabella, of whom was taking him somewhere they could talk, to learn about one another “I have a question for you. Where do you want to go?” She asked, though it seemed like she was brainstorming to herself rather than asking Austin for his opinion. But he didn't mine. He didn't care where they went. (she didn't wait for an answer, she just kept running.) They sat in silence, but the mood around the pair was obvious. His lips drawn back, Austin had a playful smile, it only growing larger when Izabella looked up from time to time deep in thought. “How about we just go for now and we can figure out a place to go later? But for now we should leave,” she said, leaving the burden she had only moments before behind. Austin followed her as she stood, their fingers still tightly wound together. He hadn't had the slightest idea of where Izabella was taking him, and frankly, he didn't care. Taking one last look at his repressed family and household, he couldn't find it in his hard to even think of forgiving them. Like they would. (he wouldn't miss it there. If anything, he was glad he was gone.)
They passed several more houses, groups of other kids he knew; but Austin dared not make conversation with anyone, not wanting to explain the throbbing pain in his right eye. He just followed, as if a a puppet in the fingers of Izabella. He didn't have any intention of letting go or disbanding her. (he actually liked this girl. she actually meant something to him now. He didn't know what it was... He just felt something special.) Not once in his past had he dated anyone girl or boy, even admitting to having crushes wasn't something Austin was used to. He was just a pair of ears everyone could use for his problems, and as long as nobody interfered with his personal life he was fine with it. But that only left him untrained for moments like these. How would he talk to her? Even worse, how would he tell her how he felt? He had never experienced something like this first-hand.
They had avoided the District square, sticking to smaller streets of the district, passing small parks filled with green grass and little children. He thought about asking her to stop here, but she seemed to want to keep going. She looked back occasionally, her smile brighter than he had ever seen it. Maybe at the second his father touched him, he regretted having trying to helped Izabella; but it was moments like these, with just the two of them that he treasured, even if he had only known her for a day. There was something he saw in her that he liked. (loved.)
As they came across one of the smaller beaches of the District, Austin's eye began to throb with pain again. Usually it would have been treated with ice to soothe the swelling itself, for him he had a treatment of rejection. They had been running for awhile, around the ten-minute mark without having said a single word. (yet he was having a great time just being around her.) His steps came to a steady stop, not sudden, he didn't want Izabella to be caught off guard and trip. "Hey.. Can we stop for a bit? My eye is kind of uhhm.. it's hurting again, sorry." He meekly said, a bit embarrassed. He was never one to put up a tough act, he never had anyone he wanted to impress. Before waiting for a response, hoping that she would be okay with it he began to take lead this time, onto the beach. With each step his shoes sank in the sand, making a crunch beneath each one. He continued walking until he reached the edge of the sand, the waves calmly washing up to the shoreline, none of them coming to a complete crash. With his left hand still bound with her right, he looked at Izabella, a shine in his eyes, cherishing the gift of her presence. "Hey.. Izabella? I don't really know how to say this, I've never been in this kind of situation but... I like you. Like, I like you alot. You're amazing." A coat of blush covered his cheeks, he could only imagine how stupid he looked with his hair one way and his face another. (was this what being in love was like?)
