There they were again. His words that stung. Had this boy not been forced into the games, he might have done something good in the world. Or may not have. He was right though. The games had made us like this. We were different before we entered them. In response to his statement, I threw one back. "You attacked first that day. And Rocko tried to protect me but your stupid ally intervened. And she hurt him, so we hurt her. I paid you little attention because well, it's not like you could see me."[rand=016776268054806420669126136328636687486845347200746848507132247235]
After I silenced myself I knew my statement would come back to bite me. He couldn't see me, and yet, he wasn't dead yet. I was just a terrible fighter. "I'm only like you in the way that I do enjoy this more than I should. And I'll enjoy it a great deal more when you're lying still on the ground. But I'm not like you in any other way." I would keep telling myself this. I didn't want to believe I was like Arbor. He swung again, but I blocked it this time with the little vision I had.
In an odd way I felt closer to this boy than I had with even my allies. Here we were trying to kill one another, but sharing things about each other. With each blow we part more of ourselves out there trying to suprise our opponent, but also suprising ouselves as well. I finally realized how much I had changed. I was all instinct now. This is what the games had made me. I can to the capitol relying on my brain, and this is hat had happen.
I wasn't using it at all, just swinging my machete wildly, hoping it hit. Letting my emotions cloud my judgement instead of focusing on the task ahead. "No more." I whispered to myself. My hands found their way to my face, and I once again wiped the blood from my eyes. I knew it would only be a moment until they clouded up again so I took aim quickly. This time, I would make it count. "I'm sorry this is what it has come to Arbor. Hopefully, you'll be seeing Shaw again soon."
