"Please... Hurry..."
Kalina shouts out to him, her bottom lip quivering already from cold that snakes up her leg. Her hand moves down to her leg momentarily, biting back a bit of the pain that goes through her leg, but her vision never faulters away from the area where her friend is trying to stand on the frozen water; or lack there of. Her breaths hitch in her throat watching him move so sloppily. Walking on ice isn't the easiest thing to do without the skates, but in seven, noone has the money for that. So, trying to stand there watching him move slowly across the ice was nerve racking. Without thinking, Kalina stands back on the ice a few feet over, taking a few steps closer to where he was coming back. To catch his hand and drag him the rest of the way, but she is hesitant to go any further than she did when she broke through the ice a moment ago. HEr hand stretches out waiting for him to get closer. HEr fingers moving so slowly in order to reach something so far out of reach.
"Reach..." The words come out just as soon as everything took a turn for the worse. His body suddenly falls through the ice. His head disappearing below the surface. Fear envelops Kalina, her face paleing. "NOO!" Her scream comes out so fast. Rough. Terrified. From behind her, there is a snapping of a twig, but Kalina doesn't even pay attention to it. INstead, her first thoughts were to go get the boy. To get him to safety. To try to find him before death becomes his friend instead of her. This wasn't suppose to happen. NO! It wasn't. Tears begin to develop in her eyes. The cold water forming at her eyes blurrs her vision as she takes the distance quickly to the broken part of the water and her hands reach in fast to the frigid temperature of the water. Her fingers moving along quickly, pushing her entire length of her arms deep into the water.
Nothing.
"HELP!!! SOMEONE HELP!" She calls out, knowing this far in the woods there wasn't goingto be anyone around but there was always hope, right? Someone in the right spot at the right time? Could it happen? Blinking away a few tears, they fall and collect into the water below where her fingers become numb. She could see his form under the water. She could see his body just barely out of reach from her hands. Now, was teh deciding moment. Jump in and get him or pray that he can reach her hand.
"Come on... Come on?" She pushes her body closer to the edge of the ice as it begins to crack under her weight as well. She wasn't looking forward to the swim, but she wasn't about to leave him alone. Not now. "COME ON!" Her desperate pleas come out. Then the ice under her body breaks, thrusting her into the water as well. Instantly, she reacts. She aims for the boy as she grabs his hand, her breath almost gone just with the shock of the temperature. Swimming wasn't something she liked. Terrified even. What scared her more was having this boy die.
