Age Thirteen
District Two
What was the point of school? It wasn't as if the Capitol truly cared if their district citizens held knowledge, if anything they want to prevent it. But still Gala was forced into going by her bossy older sisters, plus her twin loves it there. Especially now that Gwen had friends. Before she her learned her classmates were only her friend for her intelligence. Now she was friends with the younger career girls, and they're just as annoying as the older ones in Gala's eyes. But she had been training too much with Matthew. Though not lately.
After the fight embarrassment filled the little girl, just because she was now a career. Being rescued was not a way to proof herself, especially in Matthew's eyes. She could tell by his hesitation to even step in and help. If Kyanite wasn't there, would he of done anything even? Anger over his pause didn't even compare to how bad she felt. Weak. So showing up to training with Matthew is avoided, she even only uses the gym at the school. Being a big career district it nearly held all of the same things; After all they all shared the same schools.
Lunch time was the worst, because everyone comes together in a large cafeteria. Usually Gala would wander around, or hang out with her twin. Now she was fearful of which older careers went to her school, and her sister was busy with her new social life. So lately Gala's been outside on the obstacle course, avoiding everyone. It was very nice being alone though, with no noises to freak her out. After the kick to the stomach her appetites became low lately anyways. An apple, then training till the bell forces her go back to class has become her new routine.
There was no turning back from the pregames, she was embarrassed enough. A controlled game was exactly what she needed to finally proof herself, not five guys double her size. So practicing was very important, as it probably was for everyone. Everyday the pain subsided a bit as if she was working it out of her. Certainly it wasn't the best way to heal, but it was the best distraction.
Gala starts off with the monkey bar, swinging with only one hand as her right was crushed by a boot. At least she was left handed, and the wounded shoulder was much better then the rest of her newly formed wounds. Every swing for a long jump from one bar to the next brings a bad sting, but nothing she couldn't work through. Just as she's preparing for another jump the sound of simple footsteps startles her and brings her falling the ten feet.
"Damnit." Gala mutters after landing on her ass and feet. She rubs her tailbone in hopes to ease the pain, but instead it brings out all of her soreness. Quickly she remembers the cause of her fault and jumps to her feet. Fifteen seconds and she's sitting on top of the ten foot monkey bars, awaiting to see if the noise was a thread or not.
