The story of Kyanite's first fight is at least a good distraction for Gala, who can finally feel the pain from everything kick in. It was nice to know that the young career wasn't the only one to have a tough time in the beginning. Some of the careers her age appear as deadly as the older ones. The meaning fades a bit when Kyanite mentions that she still won, with one jam of her wooden sword. Despite all of the times she hit the mat, she still won. That seemed to be the opposite of what happened to Gala today, though she was still grateful for the encouragement.
"I was furious about that battle, too. Hurt, too." The story ends with a link between Kyanite and Gala. It was the effort that counted right? Even if the youngster felt that she could never compare to the older career, it was nice to know they all started off at the bottom.
Everyone was forced to watch the hunger games, so even the ones that aren't a career know about them. Sponsorship slipped Gala's mind though. If the audience that watched Gala & Mason fought, was anywhere near the audience in the capitol, the chances of help was great for the young career. A baby-face with a tough attitude and a strong punch could be a capitol desire. "...they will notice you. Win or lose, you made an impression today. That's the best thing you can do." Kyanite explains, knowing what to say to bring a bit of hope into Gala.
"Thanks." Gala has a slight smile from the encouraging words, though it quickly slips from the overwhelming pain. One thing she was very grateful for was the fact she'd never have to fight to the death with another female from this district. But males on the other hand... Mason & Gala could be reaped together, though the chances were slim. What would happen then? No judges to stop the fight, only sponsors to encourage it.
"I think that might be alright, but I don't know if you're up for traveling, Gala. It's quite a ways from here. Maybe, we can catch Matthew before he grabs a nurse." Kyanite's upon her feet quickly, and that alone gets Gala a bit worried. Even getting into a better sitting position brought horrible pain.
"I can make it." Gala assures, taking Kyanite's hand for help to get to her feet. The slight pull to bring her to her feet brings even more pain to her ribs, just to let her know how much damage was actually done. At least the irritation of biting her lip, that was punched, covered a bit of the pain. Finally on her feet only informed another source of the worst pain, her right foot. Well at least her dominant left side didn't receive many of the blows, but everyone predicts the common right handed person.
"Lets go get Matthew?" Kyanite suggests, and with the support of the wall and older career Gala manages a steady walk. Each step brings more and more discomfort, but it certainly beats dealing with the nurses.
"I don't need your help." Gala growls at the nurses just awaiting for something to happen. All of their faces clearly illustrated their disapproval, and doubt they'd even make it outside. They follow with crossed arms, and hopes for entertainment.
"What are you two doing here? I sent the nurse down the hall to find you." They only reach halfway down the hall before running into Matthew. He's clearly not liking the fact his trainee was upon her feet and not being care for by a nurse. But did he really expect Gala to give in that easily? He takes Gala's other arm to also help, before advising; "You should be laying down until a doctor checked you over. If you broke your rib badly it might pierce one of your organs."
"Don't worry, they're following us." Gala mumbles in response. The slight movement for Matthew to help support Gala reveals someone he was clearly attempting to keep hidden; Mason.
Immediately the young career could feel the replacement from pain to a burn everywhere; just as it was playing out in the match. Without a warning Gala pulls away from the two trying to help her and charges straight towards the one that made her lose. The pain vanishes with the feeling to win back what she lost. She lunches and tackles just as she should of done during the fight. Before she has a chance to deliver her first punch though, one of the nurse's grabs a hold of her arm and a shot is given to the young career. Everything's dancing around, until exhaustion finally takes over Gala.
"Never expected the youngest one to be the most difficult." One of the nurse comments as they can finally put Gala on a stretcher to get checked on.
