Sienna Hunter
From: District Nine
Area: Wanderer
Status: Avox
Age: Eleven
There was no better time for the winter cold to kick in, but just a couple of weeks after Sienna left to wander the woods alone. Food supply was minimal with the hibernating animals and lack of wildly grown harvest. Just like the wild life, the young Avox was content with staying bundled away within a secluded area. Except that keeping on the move was a necessity, to change locations to avoid getting caught, and attempt to follow a food source. She never signed up for this though, and in some ways she preferred her slaved avox life; being isolated and alone felt worse. But Eighteen's goal was for them both to escape, and certainly things would be much better if that was the case. Being mad at the older avox wasn't right, she was only trying to protect them.
An entire hour of sleep was a lucky break, always waking up several times. The smallest ruffle of a nearby bush, with only an innocent rodent causing the noise, scares the little girl out of her skin. Rest came as often as food, and she had reduced to only skin and bones if she wasn't already before. At any time it was possible, Sienna would bundle up in her over-sized jacket in hopes for a little shut eye. More often then not she'd wake up with a start, just to receive an overwhelming fear to close her eyes again.
The weather was so brutal that every breath Sienna exhales forms into a cloud of puff, as the hot air mixes with the crisp cold. She stays clenching her legs, curled within the large, thick jacket. Even the growl of her stomach isn't enough to have her budge from the little bit of warmth. She slowly begins building her self up to make a move, scooting back into the hollow tree as much as she may. A small hand leaves the comfort and quickly goes for the backpack. She searches the front pocket until her hand grips the last piece of over-cooked meat; her stomach growls even louder with excitement.
A horrible scent fills the frozen air as she pulls the last source of food from her bag. Instinctively she throws the now rotten chunk of meat far into the distance, as she retrieves her hand back into the sort of warm jacket. The last piece of food would only cause sickness, even just from that horrible smell. She buries her entire body into the jacket, feeling depleted and hungry... Just as always the slightest sound of human movement brings Sienna spiraling up a tree and becoming hidden. The movement was as painful as the weather as the bitter cold stiffened nearly every bone in her body. Still within a few seconds she's high up in a tree, and nearly impossible to see, especially in the night darkness.
An old man trails along, clearly searching for something. Quite a few yards away he stops and begins digging through a bush. Did Sienna drop something? The smallest object could give away her general locations, and send the peacekeepers her way. But instead of an article of clothing, or dropped knife, he pulls out a large, healthy rabbit. In a general response to any chance of food the small girl's stomach growls once again, and hopefully blends in with the rest of the nighttime sounds.
After checking around for any followers he returns back in the same direction he came from. That had been Sienna's first encounter with anyone since watching the group of peacekeepers hunt down Eighteen. Fear, curiosity, and desire all fill in her emotions at once. There was a great chance that he could be dangerous, but it was also as likely that he could be kind hearted. Not wanting to be risky she decides to do what she does best, be sneaky. With the bag already hanging from her shoulders, she slowly and quietly begins following from the top of the trees.
