Name: Laila 'Lila' Nightingale
Age: 12
District: 6
Gender: Female
Appearance:
You look into the mirror and see yourself staring back. Your hair is a natural auburn, shining in it's newly cleaned state. It rolls down your shoulders and stops at your waist. It looks uncut; you'll probably need to cut it soon. You look again, your hair starting to cover your eyes. You push your hair to the side and tie it up, out of the way.
You look back at the mirror, and your eyes are a deep brown-red. Like your hair, but darker, almost pure darkness, wanting to be let out. They are almost twinkling in the light pouring in through the tiny window. They were glinting, taunting you. Your eyes shut and open them again, and the darkness returned to your tired eyes. The morning light returned, but you weren't looking at them now.
Your face is white, but tanned, with a spotless finish, nothing reducing from your natural looking skin. Your mouth is creeped up into a smile, a small raise in the corners of your mouth. Your cheeks are adorned by freckles crossing the bridge of your nose and connecting together. Your nose is small, but well formed, the tip pointing slightly downwards. The bridge is quite flat.
You look down on the mirror, and look at your body. You're standing at about 5'1", looking up and down, that seemed about right. Weight-wise, you're about 73 pounds, 5st 3lbs. Your muscles are small in mass, and same with your build. Not being that well fed might have something to do with that.
Personality:
Laila always feels that she needs to help others less fortunate then herself. This is why she wishes to be a nurse or doctor when she grows up. She works hard, but never rests until the thing she is doing is over. As such, this can make her seem too hard working, and her life is suffering from it. Many of her friends have left her and now Laila has gone back into her shell, and started to like her own company. She loves her family dearly, and would never hate them for anything. Laila is still quite childish, but when challenged she becomes almost a different person. This new person is only shown when she is helping in the hospital or learning in school. She dislikes difference, and hates being away from home for long periods of time. She has a sense of humour, but never has a chance to let it out, as no one is around for her to have a laugh with.
She hates pressure of any kind, and her family of traditionally healers puts her under pressure to do well at school and become a healer like them. Although healing is her life at the moment, learning what she needs to do to be a healer, her few other hobbies include running and gardening, which both are incredibly therapeutic to counteract the stress.
Because her family are rather well off, Laila is treated like a princess and doesn't have to work unlike many others in the district, but hasn't rested on her laurels, as she uses the extra time to do more studying. This makes her pushed out of many friend groups as her family is quite rich. She therefore thinks that the money is a curse. Although she is quite selfless, she wants fame and see the Hunger Games as a brutal stepping stone to fame and as a risk worth taking to get fame. She only wants fame as she is the youngest child of three and is mostly forgotten about. She is quite a traditional girl who loves her parents dearly.
History:
Born to a rich family, the Nightingales, Laila had the best possible start in her life. Her parents, doctors in the hospital, although away a fair amount, spend all the time they could with Laila. She was the youngest of 3, and was almost forgotten about by the others, and so turned to her parents. Although they say that they have no favourites, her parent actually like her the most, as Laila was the only girl and was their princess. All the boys picked on her, and so Laila knew how to handle them and ignore their annoyances.
By the time she was 6, her life was good again. The boys had started to work, and they left home early and came back late, and her parents started to love her dearly. Her family were all happy together, until her father passed away the year after, and the family grew apart. With the two boys leaving and moving out forever, leaving only Laila and her mother together. She used the extra time to grow closer to her mother and made them inseparable.
From then on, Laila's goal in life was set; she wanted to be a healer. Her mother taught her basic medical skills, and Laila started to go to a medical school to become a doctor. All of her friends no longer spoke to her, and her brothers came back to home, and piled on the pressure on her to succeed. She began to find ways to relieve the pressure and so found hobbies like running and gardening which relaxed her.
No longer a little girl, Laila was getting a high mark in her healing classes. She used her more free time as she didn't need to work was used to have classes with her mother, who taught her more stuff then was being taught in the school, and Laila had only improved. By this time the 66th games passed, and Laila turned twelve, and would be put in the reaping for the 67th games.
