Watching Matthew has to be the highlight of my day. I'm not sure why, but what I see in him is way deeper than skin alone. It's his heart. It's the day to day things that he gives me to not give up on him. He never just lets me have my way and I don't give him his either. We seem stubborn toward each other yet somehow, even if a small clash happens, it's only due to a miscommunication. Which is actually something that we've been working at. Communication between us is getting better as the days go by. We've expressed our feelings more than once. Even today, a milestone with myself has occured. I've told him about what happened with me and Vy.
"Like what you see?" He asks and in return all he gets is a headshake and grin. I don't worry about hiding it. Why should I? I'm pretty open to him when it comes to 'us'. I'd rather he know.
As his girlfriend, I've grown to care for what goes on in his life. What dreams he may happen to share with me. What ambitions he wants to persue. I was to be the one that gives him that feeling of being able to do it in a moments notice. Now, is no different as I try to elate his spirits and remove any doubts he may have when it comes to the academy and it's push on him to progress further and on time.
"I know you'll be a good peacekeeper." I tell him and when I lay on the grass, letting the clouds roll past me, I couldn't feel more at ease. Matthew even decides to join me and he lays beside me so causually.
"Did I tell you that I had to go see a psychologiest this week because of what happened?" Immediatley, I'm up on my elbows staring at him even when he finishes his sentence with something as common as standard routine. I shake my head. There's no way it's a standard routine and I am not buying it at all. Though, he complains that there's nothing to tell her though. There's plenty to say... at least I would. Talking to some random stranger though?
I stay in silence though for a few moments when he rolls his head to have his eyes connect with my own. Then comes the challenge to find the cabin. I'm all too hopeful that he'll agree with me.
"Yeah. You scared me that night, too. I thought you were goign to shoot the old guy." I admit it now. I'm not sure if I said anything that night about it, but now it seems like an odd experience that is something for a book. "The tales of Matthew and Ky: bandits of the forbidden forest."
I let those words fall under my own breath before he asks me a question. I'm caught completely off guard. I drop my head a little and shrug. To come up with this answer at the drop of the hat will come out truthfully, so I just let it roll of my tongue.
"What I like about you? Hmmm... must I mention the creativity of where... we get together?" I smirk a little. Oh, the places we've been just to have some time together is making the list a little long, but I know he's wanting a serious answer so, I take a breath. "Well, your an ass, for one."
I wait for a moment to see the reaction off of that because that clearly what I declared him to be right before everything started coming together between us. "Other than being an ass, you turned out to be an ass with a heart... once I finally got you to crack. I had a vibe about you from the beginning. I just didn't know if it was good or bad. That day when we found the cabin, you made it clear that there was a whole lot more to you than meets the eye. I knew you would be worth it if I could just try. Call me stubborn, I don't care. I admit my flaws. You didn't make it easy though. YOu never give up, and you didn't give up on me either. Even when you are at rock bottom, you've still got that instinct.
"Remember when were running from the wolf and you pushed me in the water. You never had to do that. YOu could have let me get caught like I wanted. You are just as stubborn as me. We butt heads, but we don't complain about it. Not to mention when you lead the way to the doctor's house, you stayed with me. You gave me something to focus on while he treated my wounds. You never left me. Something, I wasn't used to and wanted more of."
I reach out for his hand and bring it to my face, putting his palm against my cheek. "Question returned for you, Ass." I can't help but chuckle.
