O'Rourke acts as if his busted nose was just a minor scratch and could be fixed in a day, which makes me wonder: Do real peace keepers have access to medical capitol procedures that we don't? Could I easily get my half functioning lung fixed in a day or could Tyren get treated with the possibilty of him dying?
I give my trainer an inquisitive look and make a mental note to ask him later.
The training goes on for a while and by the end of it I'm more than spent. Again I have troubles breathing but hide it well enough to wait until I'mout of sight before I use the inhaler.
The others are equally tired and beaten up and actually give me some respect now.
"Good job, Dunham. We'll see you around. If our groups are ever mixed i want to be on your team." One of them says which make me smile.
"I'll remember that."
That day I can barely keep my elbows off the table or my eyes open at lunch. I'm physically exhausted and very grateful that I only have to go and get anew helmet after lunch. Even the walk there seems to be too much but I do get one that's just a tad too small as the corporal had told me.
Then I make my way up to the rooms and fall asleep on my bunk in all my filthy sweaty gear. I only wake up when my room mates enter a little later and notice that I've passed out.
"Hey, what are you doing, Matt? We have a class in 10 minutes."
Needless to sayIÄ'm not bright eyed and bushy tailed but have to battle my sleepiness every minute of that class.
In the evening I'm finally back to normal when everybody is allowed off base for a night out.
Today I do't join the others though but keep t myself instead.
Outside of the academy there are only a few shops still open, a few bars and restaurants.
I need to clear my head and spend some time by myself and maybe call my girl friend.
Today I make sure not to do that from the academy but one of the public pay phones in town.
I'm just done talking to Kyanite when I hear footsteps behind me and turn to see who it is.
