Nolan’s out here with me not just to split wood. I’m pretty sure he could handle that by himself rather than having me help him in a very half assed way.
He’s here to talk. I assume that what Brody told me about being part of his family now, is true because it feels like Nolan is just as much of a mentor as Brody was. He enquires about Kyanite, whom he helped at the hospital when she passed out and I give him the truth for a change. No need to protect anybody by hiding our relationship anymore.
"Well of course. If it were any more obvious, it'd be written on your forehead." The older man starts laughing in a low chuckling way. I do as well because the picture he’s painting seems a little funny. He’s also not giving me any advice or verbal spanking for leaving her that day, which I’m glad about.
So I raise the axe and let it sink into the soft wood just enough to be able to lift the whole piece up with it and let it fall down onto the splitting block to part it in two. I repeat the same exercise splitting it into kindling to light a fire.
"When is she due? Brody told me you were asking about baby names." I hear him ask while I focus on the task at hand so I don’t injure myself.
“Three months.” I wrinkle my brow and then pause for a second to look at Nolan. Here’s a bit of news he might be proud of. I blink against the cold wind that’s making my eyes water before I tell him.
“We’re going to name her after Brody…her middle name…because he saved her.” A gentle smile plays on my lips when I add.
“The suffering he’s going through now has good reason. I don’t know many people who would have done that for a stranger.”
Then I lift the axe again to split the next piece. The more I do it the better my aim gets and the more3 efficiently I work.
“Are you still at the career training center? I’ve started there again…just some work outs to get back into shape. I know a girl who needs a good reliable trainer.”
If I can get Gala in with Nolan she’ll have the best trainer she can have, one she can totally reply on.
Heck, I’d like him to train me.
OOC : What a great line… The younger man seemed sort of... lost. Just kind of aimlessly floating trying to make sense of what to do next, and as young men were apt to, lashing out when he had more questions than answers.
