Domino Abattoir.Rules are boring. I'm tired of living by rules.
The gossip king's stranger doesn't seem to realize that he's the one who started this game, not Domino Abattoir. Words like those are a dare in the ear of someone whose entire, fragile life rests upon the circulation of thoughtless whispers in rooms just like this one. "I heard his mother is having an affair with Mace Emberstatt..." One blurred face whispers to an audible gasp she calls a best friend, lips pressed to the other girl's ear and mouth hidden behind a shield of fingers. "No freaking way! So that means those kids are —" "Yes!" They go back and forth. "No! You're lying." Back and forth. "I swear. The Emberstatt kids are, like, secret Abattoir love children. Think about it. It explains everything..."
It's not important what's being said. The boys in the chair are too preoccupied with heavy breathing and what's actually happening right now. Over there isn't a particular concern. Even if these things were being said directly to Domino's face, he'd more than likely just grin and laugh right along with the girls — maybe wink and say something like: I hear District Ten is lovely in the springtime. He doesn't care what they say just so long as it's about him, perpetuating Abattoir as a name to be known. The day people stop talking is the day he realizes he has absolutely n o t h i n g.
For now, however, he has sweet preoccupation. Lips flutter against cheeks as giggles soar and it's at least twice as intoxicating as any liquor that has been consumed tonight. It is, however, in the self-professed words of the boy who truly began this game... boring. Silence is more terrifying than words because it's open to infinite interpretation and when given the opportunity to break a quiet rule of expectation, nothing shattered. Kiss me here, Domino's finger had implied and a pair of lips followed, exactly like they were supposed to. "Your turn." Oh, he knows. "Truth or dare?"
One of these boys is playing Truth or Dare. "You pick for me." The other is playing a game within a game, smirking as he spins a simple pair of words around — your turn — and hands them right back, because he may not know his stranger's name, but he certainly knows enough. Despite being tired of living by the rules, this is someone who can't seem to help following them anyway and the real truth and dare tonight is whether or not Domino can teach him how effortless it is to break out of that box. Out of any box at all.
("— and that's only his mother. It's practically nothing compared to what happened last weekend." "Oh my god, tell me right now!" "Well, July Jacquez was throwing a huge party, like usual, and Domino —")
He thinks he can. Either way, it'll be more than a little bit of fun to try.
