I could be going insane.
The Detective tells her that she must be. It's been five years and her mind is unraveling. Five years since she woke up in a hospital room, lost and alone. Five years since she started running around with The Detective, five years of searching for who she might be. It's infuriating. Trying to live a life after the earthquake has been nearly impossible. Possibly because it is. She doesn't know what she's trying to gain back. The argument is so why try then? Why should she try if she's not really missing anything because she doesn't know what she's missing?
She only ever ends back at square one anyway. Eden knows. She knows for a concrete fact that the death of Keira Dempsey in the games all those years back has something to do with the detective taking her on as a secretary. Despite his allusion of being incapable of sentiment, Eden holds sentimental value to the man. A dead girl. A dead girl is her link. That and the fact that the name is just so damn familiar to her, not just because The Detective was hot headed over a certain Dempsey's case for so many years either. The name rings a bell. Deep inside, it clangs.
She's taken to stalking Keira's tombstone at the graveyard as if a hunk of rock could speak to her. No matter how hard she stares at the letters and words on the grave, it does nothing for her. the girl is buried beside her twin sister. The stone reads 'Siberia Dempsey'. The girl died only a few months before her sister it looks like. Another earthquake death.
She was buried in two jackets in front of the grave, short hair covered with a purple touque a grateful older lady had given to her after a hard case. A thick scarf was tied around her neck and she was frowning, deep in concentration, as if trying to communicate with the dead.
