it figures that Jins was the guy who was bullying Kyanite when she was a kid and even got this girl here in trouble.
The girl, who's half beaten to death has a hard time keeping her eyes open and I an't blame her, so I let her get the much needed rest and busy myself around the house. There's still lots to do before Ky and Mira can move in. The wait makes me too anxious to focus though because I partly expect the peace keepers to come barging in and grab me again because I'm helping this girl.
I turn a few screws of a board under the kitchen sink to get to the piping behind it because it seems like there's still a leak somewhere. Sure enough I find an old pipe that's corrodated and needs to be replaced so I sigh deeply. This house seems to be a bottomless pit.
That's when a peace keeper finally come storming in- the one I can actually handle: Jeran.
He doesn't even knock - but I do. I knock my head against the corner of the cabinet I'm stuck in at the moment and curse while he shouts. "Matthew? Charlie? Are you here... where is she?"
Before I can answer she's already spotted her on the couch so I rub my head and crawl out of the confined space.
"She's sleeping...shhh."
He's already woken her up as she drousily replies to him. "I've missed your face."
Slowly I walk up behind them watching their interaction for a second before I turn to Jeran.
"You took your sweet time. Did you bring painkillers? She needs them. I've desinfected her back as good as I could but I only have a first aid kit in the house."
I'm nervous and there's no hiding it but I can also sense that I need to shut up now.
