DAY THREE | WORDS: 367 | HP: 31
The fight was rising in my blood, and in the other combatants surrounding me. Once again, a flurry of new gashes marred the golden horn, though once again the flamethrower failed to make a mark on the metal. The scream and squeal of metal continued to ring out into the air, until there was a sound like a large bell that peeled into the air, bringing me to a halt for a moment. Even when my hearing cut out I could still feel the tone in my chest
and I could hear the thing scream.
"F-F-F-FUCKING PRESTON-N-N-N."
My hearing was still gone but I heard a different beast calling its death cry, calling for me to join in. "No way in fucking hell." The cornucopia was weakened severely, and it was clear that the structure had begun to crack and groan under our endless assault. We might be able to kill it soon, we could be free soon.
Lily was trying to scramble away but the beast blocked her path. Then the massive metal mountain struck. Again the horrible vision of a blade plunging into a human eye, a human skull, to split it and spill the inner workings was splashed over my eyes like red paint. Detached, I quietly thought that they would love this in the Capitol. Down here, though, in the middle of this forsaken place, it was another matter all together.
The guy with the beard was slashed viciously on the leg by the other of the thing's arms. I watched in horror as an axe went flying at Asher, expecting to see him to drop dead from a grievous wound. It seemed like we would all die here, and with the mutt so close to death.
I couldn't let that happen. "You bloody fucking bastard I'm going to break you into little pieces and melt you and turn you into a puddle!" This wasn't a shout anymore, this was a scream, a battle cry. I killed that machine dog mutt, I could kill this massive moving mountain of metal. My sword and I would scream together as we took the final cut at the most terrifying thing I had ever seen.
They always told you to conquer your fears.
