Dru was impressed by Mel, she hardly thought they could have been friends, but she had to applaud the girl. It was funny to Dru how the three people she wanted to win the Hunger Games the most were all girls. Did that say anything about her? Aranica, Dru and Mel were also conveniently the last females standing. Dru shook her head in disgust as Mel ran away though and debated screaming coward. She then thought of the effort required to even whisper when you were functioning on little rest, little water and no food. Obviously Dru abandoned the idea and instead casually turned to a bush of food. Now that the worst of the fighting was over, she could not ignore her pangs of hunger.[rand=921872307686196913490318950364484463723019721746495129717444444]
She put the food into her hands until there was little over a fist-full of it. She had learned about the dangers of over-eating after a few days of starvation. Dru had to be careful when dealing with food these days. She sat down to eat, content, and watched Aranica with interest. It had to be hard on the kid to have just watched Dru stab a guy in the eye, as well as saw a former allies arm off. Oh yeah, and Aranica had been the one to finish off Jango. She smiled through all the food. "Hey Ara, everything is okay now, honey. Why don't you eat some food and rest a little while? We can deal with your battle wound too." she told the younger girl and winked. That was as close to comforting as Dru had ever gotten. Still, a little stab of guilt poked at Dru's heart. She should have offered food to Ara first, made sure the girls wound was okay--dressed it, for that matter. Then of course her mental health. Being responsible sucks, Dru mused to herself. No wonder her mother tried her hardest to ignore Dru and drank wine with every meal. The stress, the pressure of knowing Aranica was hers to care for was starting to get to her head. And Dru knew only one of them could live for longer than a few days, so the burden was even heavier on her bony-shoulders.
Of course Dru did not call herself the Master Procrastinator for nothing. She would deal with that situation later. The whole battle between her self-preservation and her newly formed conscious. (Great timing, by the way. This conscious business could not have waited until after the Games? Aranica was both a curse and a blessing these days) Dru turned her attention back to the food in her hands. For a moment she panicked as a ridiculous thought popped into her head. Mel must have ambushed Dru and stolen the rest of the food from her hands. That wild accusation was replaced by the realization that Dru had eaten all of the herbs. She was disappointed, also looking forward to eating a little bit more in a few hours.
With a start, Dru glanced in the direction of the stuff-pile. Her head was still a little muddled, so once again Dru found herself worried about Mel having snuck up on them and taken the supplies instead of the food in her very hands. No thieves had touched the heap of supplies. What Dru saw was even more interesting and infuriating. Argent and Shanks had already gone through everything and separated their own little piles. "Well isn't this just dandy," Dru spit through her teeth. She found herself suddenly upright. Since when had she been standing, and why was her falchion held up in such an offensive position. Dru could not seem to help herself.
"The boys, the ones who didn't even manage to get in any good licks have already taken all their own stuff. Did you think I would let you?" that last comment was directed toward Shanks. Dru narrowed her eyes at the boy. He was a threat. Too clever, too strong, too Career for her taste. Those traits were supposed to belong to Dru, and Dru alone. Not to anybody who wanted her dead. "Aranica and I are the ones who killed them. You're just the idiot who attacked Mel!" Dru yelled at him. Alright, Dru was willing to admit she was still cranky after Mel had blocked her attack. It was humiliating, to say the least.
So maybe Dru was still feeling the need to shed blood. That was the only reason that made even a little bit of sense. It was the reason why her feet were propelling her and her falchion forward. Why she was about to attack yet another person. I've gone off my rocker, haven't I?
