Ikaia Miristioma Twenty-Two | Male | District Eleven |
i know i'm a mess and i wanna be someone
someone that i like better
i can never forget
so don't remind me of it forever
someone that i like better
i can never forget
so don't remind me of it forever
Sometimes the world was just too unpredictable. The way the wind moved leaves across the grass in a terrible storm. The way the birds splattered poop across the terrain. All of it was impossible to grasp, impossible to place. Even the sun rose at the time it wanted. Tributes chosen for the hunger games, nobody could've guessed the names bellowing through the district square on the dreaded day, but two times, two years, Ikaia listened begging for all of it to simply become a horrible nightmare. Kirito was lucky, but Iain wasn't, and today, Ikaia planned on honoring his name.
All the deceased have a story, and Iain's began when he came into the world a crippled boy. Most gave up on him, but the young boy fought and proved just how strong he was. Even Ikaia thought he would die much sooner than he truly did. His story came to an end in the midst of the hunger games, and only memories remained.
Today was about remembering who his young cousin was.
A heavy sigh left his lips as he carried himself through the old shack of a house. Junior and Ekain both on his tail following him everywhere. The two boys saved his life, they brought him through the valley of the shadow of death giving him a new purpose, a reason to continue on. He promised to take them to see Ma today while he went on to the cemetery to place a few flowers and clean off the grave. It was a heavy burden, but it was one Ikaia needed to do.
"Come on boys, we're gonna go see Ma." Running his fingers through his hair, he ushered the twins out the door.
Dry grass crunched beneath his feet, but soon he was making his way into the victors village. One step after another, passing one house and another until he finally reached the door. Taking a deep breath, he attempted to make himself look presentable along with the twins standing before him. One day he would take them with him, and he would share the story of Iain the brave, but right now wasn't the time.
Raising a hand, he knocked three times on the door.
And then he waited wondering if anyone was home.
