The other contestants buzz against each other's mind. I see their fear and I see their past. It is mine, mine to control and mine to relinquish. My only hope is to avoid the piercing sting of death. I am not a murderer, though I do vanquish. I am the protector of this realm, this castle is now mine and I will once again be a force of good, not slaughter. Still, when we stumble into a room and come across another group, I know I must act. They target another one of my teammates. The Doctor with the many faces, and the Ranger with only one of Gold. My allies keep watch over me and I protect them with my strength and magic.

We will vanquish the Dark Force. We will restore peace and light into this New World. I will sacrifice myself, if necessary.

The light in me overpowers evil, and I do not hurt the young lady I attack. Instead, I lean in and give her a gentle kiss on the forehead. I know that I am a Lady for a reason, and my crown and specter only serve to enhance my goodness. Still, light can not rule over dark forever. I must attack if I am to save my alliance.

My gold ranger dies, and for a second, I am reminded of another ranger from long ago. Aragorn was able to live his life to its very sweet end. My heart mourns for the death of such a companion. He has sacrificed himself for his White Queen. It is only us immortals left. We will only be vanquished by the blade. 

I start to long for the end of this battle. Will I survive? I glide away, nodding at each of my opponents. Until we meet upon another age.
