It was...awkward, to say the least. If awkward is what you call forming a truce with your monster of a son after you tried to kill them.

Yeah, awkward was an understatement.

But for now, at least, they had a common ground. Rey's death was felt by both of them, heavily - perhaps she was their only common ground. And for now, grief would prove a greater unifier than the many things that divided them.

So he would live, for now.

Someone else would not be so lucky, for he still would die by her hand, of that she was certain. That meant that the person that got in her way would perish. Such was the necessities of war.

It's the painting man, from the day before. ”The air is nice out here, isn’t it? What a beautiful place to be with friends.” How strange.

"With friends, yes." But there were no friends, not here.

With a sigh, her lightsaber flashes its golden hue, and she strikes.

No response, not that she minds.
In fact, she thinks she prefers it that way.

No talk, only action and determination. Lightsaber and paint brush meet in battle, and by any estimates it should be no contest.

But she's learned never to underestimate an opponent, and this painting man is no different.

Only I can be trusted to give my son the end he deserves.

The light in the world is breathtaking sometimes. The light in her, the light that had been in Han...

And the light that had once been in her son.

One must see the darkness to truly appreciate the light. She wondered if this man had been down that path himself.

But the thought is tossed aside, and again, her yellow blade flashes.
