Surprisingly enough, Volkner found himself being told by his parents how much of an idiot he was. Stupidity ruins through his veins, well maybe that's what they see it as, but he can see the truth. The want to show the world what really comes in the name of Meinhardt and what the poorer of citizens can do. Waving a hand at his parents as the anger in his veins releases in a torrent of the crimes they left to him. Lonely nights with nothing more than the mouse traps that caught living creatures. The arguments that hung over his head like the blade of an execution device dangling above his head, the rope fraying ever so slightly with every second.

The string might finally break after this.

He still didn't regret his decision.

As they leave, he crosses his arms behind his head, putting his feet on the wooden desk and leaning back in the chair as he lets his mind wander around from the past minutes that have happened. Pushing a pathetic guy off of a stage saving his life probably, but gets a lecture from his mother about how they didn't raise him to be like that. What a pathetic lie that had been told to his face. No one raised him. He raised himself from childhood with nothing more than arguing parents and his own loneliness that resided in his isolation. No one needed him and he didn't need anyone else. The world was a cruel place, so he grew cruel just like it. Beaten down by kids bigger than him, targeted for humiliation, and so many more things as a kid, he found happiness in dead mice. The functioning of a mouse trap that didn't work and why it failed became his hobby, until his ingenious traps formed in his head. Flint never found them as exciting as he had.

The door opens as his thoughts continue. Eyes brush open gently as he lets himself laugh out loud at the sight of his brother who found people more fun than anything else.

"I'm surprise you came to see me. What? No one decided to sleep with you this time?"

Flint Meinhardt

A set of luxurious feminine arms gnawingly embrace my torso in a yearn for me to follow her. “But you said we’d go to the party once the reaping was over.” She whines her plead like an damn five year old requesting a new toy, which disgusts me entirely. Though my interest already faded in her last night when she requested to cuddle, but unfortunately her claws managed to discover my location again today. Beyond annoyed, I force my Being away from her clutch - though she persists to nip at my heels as if a lost puppy, as I venture to the justice building.

“I have to go see my stupid brother.” Is explained nonchalantly, though no reasoning is deserved to a one night stand.

A giggle flutters from her lips, probably realizing my personal lack of caring that my own Brother volunteered for his chance at death. “Ohh, right. For a second I thought it was you who volunteered!” She jokes all too truthfully, because everyone in this damn district believes I’m a spitting image of him - which irks my present mood even further.

“Great. Pretend that I did, and scat.” Demands from the core of my annoyance, as I travel through the Justice Building’s entrance and ensure that the door shuts behind me to block her pursuit. Will my Brother’s decision finally conclude our link to one another, or will it tighten it even more so?

A final door is breached to unite us divided Brothers for potentially one last time. And immediately jokes spring from him in my welcoming. “I’m surprised you came to see me. What? No one decided to sleep with you this time?” Automatically a grin slithers across my cheeks at his words.

“As if. They’re all waiting outside. Want me to send one in after I leave? Finally enjoy yourself before your sent off to the royal slaughter?” Is questioned humorously, though it may as well be rhetorical to given there’s no doubt he’ll decline. “How selfish of you to leave me to deal with our parents alone.” The sarcasm continues to spew, as there’s no doubt between us that I don’t give our parents the time of day anyways. “Guessing you wanted some humans to test your trap experiments on?” Wraps my string of words, with a sprinkle of truth to tie the bow.

Just like electricity spreading over an expanse of an object, a pitiful grin is thrown his way. Masking the pain from the truth that comes out into open air with a shocking strike to his chest, but he ignores it. Finally, his brother stands up to him just as he's leaving to bring them both a better life where nothing could tear them down from the top. The top that they belong on instead of the rich who just continue to get richer and richer and treat him and his brother like dirt on the ground or just a plaything. Or maybe, that's just what they saw in him. Unbridled rage that flows through his veins with an electric shock in every step he makes.

Sarcasm slick in his voice trying to stab at his heart, but little did his brother know that his heart's been locked away from everyone. Arms crossed as he leans forward rolling his eyes at the words of his foolish brother who he was trying to protect for good. Even if he was obnoxious, Flint's always had his back in life. Slaughter was a word that could be used, but that's what their training was for. Slaughter. Glory. Royalty. They were meant to learn how to grasp that in their fist and crush it. All he wanted was to break the glass walls that certain people are stuck under, unable to shatter the glass to be seen in their entirety. Fuck the haters who wanted to see him crash and burn.

“How selfish of you to leave me to deal with our parents alone.”

Selfish men don't make bold choices. Selfish men don't risk losing it all for reasons that are beyond their control. Selfish men blend back into the background never to speak up once again. Fuck that. Volkner's done enough hiding behind his own poorness and teasing that he's not selfish to make a decision like this. All he wanted to was to make life different for people and if he had to kill a twelve year old kid, he would do it for his brother. Rolling eyes and a huff of annoyance comes from his nose at the words.

“Guessing you wanted some humans to test your trap experiments on?”

Palm slams down into the desk as he gives his brother a good stare down before he sighs at the words. Processing like a shock to his system, he lets go of the desk. Air fills his lungs before he steps up and out of his seat staring at the wall to his side. A painting of beautiful gems lingers with perfect precise details. Words fall from his lips as he touches the diamond on it carefully.

"Selfish men don't risk losing their lives to make the world a better place."

Fingers brush a ruby and a sapphire as his words continue.

"No. This is what I've been training for since we were kids. Don't you get that this isn't just for me. It is for everyone. It's for the poor district kids who are left behind and targeted because they don't have a name to rely on. They don't have riches to help them live their lives. I'm tired of watching Mom and Dad fight about fucking finances. I'm tired of nothing shifting. Lumieres and Frays rewarded for nothing more than carrying a special fucking name."

Fingers splayed out across the painting as he turns back to his brother and genuinely stares at him, hoping he understands what the fuck he means. Understands that this isn't just about fucking testing his traps that were perfect. This was about money. This was about class. This was about names. This was about legacy.

And he was going to tear that fucking legacy bullshit apart, tribute by tribute if he fucking had to.

"I'm going there and going to tear tributes piece by piece because it'll change everything. Can't you just see what I see? Oh well, it's too late. I made my decision and you're going to live with it. Fuck our parents. You're capable enough to handle yourself, Flint."

Selfish men don't live with electricity in their veins like Volkner Meinhardt.

Flint Meinhardt

A jumble of baffling words spew from the blood connection I’m supposed to call a Brother. An eyebrow raises upon my features in confused curiosity, underlying with petite interest by what’s brewing. It’s ignited with a defense on not being selfish, though it was purely a joke from myself that sparked such a matter. Intent was purely of humor and sarcasm, though charges so much more in return. Somehow this actions of my Brother’s is one of heroism, for the poor and the weak, something like that - though nor does that statement wrap my head around his reasoning… but rather spirals me further into a hole of confusion that I frankly shouldn’t give two shits about, yet do.

How is it that I haven’t comprehended my Brother’s hatred for entitled names until now? The disgust towards are parents is obvious and shared. While the grudge for known families had gone unnoticed by myself. An understanding could be reached, but his method of dealing with such is still unfathomable. He wonders if I can see what he does, while I’m solely left baffled still.

“Of course I can handled myself. It’s just this vision of your’s… that I don’t quite understand.” Truth maneuvers through my lips in one of those rare moments of possibly caring. “You’re risking your own life… for the other poor kids in our district… by going to kill other poor kids in other districts?” Is questioned, in partial sarcasm, though a desire to comprehend is there as well. Arms cross before me in attempt to absorb this information. Perhaps he isn’t selfish, but that doesn’t mean logic comes with such a trait.
