And Stitch yet again was beside himself, because there was no time for him to see that he was alone here. He was alone because he did not trust anyone in this war that was waged six days ago. There were little things about it this place, things that he never dared to think about because none of it seemed to make sense to him, but he wondered what it might have been like if none of them fought in this place.
What would it have been like if all of them were friends instead?
Stitch would never figure that out though, because he was now facing his own death, a reality that would never set in for him. Not because he wasn’t expecting it to come soon, but because he didn’t think that it would be at the hand of someone that he thought he had a connection with.
But of course, Andy turned out to only care for himself, and Stitch could not blame him for that.
After all, they all wanted to return home to the people they loved. Or the people they lost.
His mind wandered and gravity disappeared for a moment, Stitch began to float into the air, his body rotating into the atmosphere at a slow pace to start, but with each thought of death, his trajectory accelerated. The speed knocked the air out of him for a moment, but once he opened his eyes, he realized that this was nothing but a dream.
A feeling that would go away soon.
And instead of screaming, Stitch simply looked onward, watching as the clouds pass him by. His hand reached out momentarily to feel each one of them through his fingertips. They felt cold to the touch, but that might have been the rain that was coming out of them.
He traveled upwards until he crossed the stratosphere and then collided with the ozone layer. But he did not burn up leaving the earth’s orbit. Instead, he felt himself cocooned in a thin layer of ice, protecting his lungs from the lack of oxygen that was present in space.
He traveled with the stars as he listened to Ollie and Andy ask questions that Stitch didn’t have the answer for right away. He was preoccupied with the gas clouds of Venus to think about people that might have missed him back home at eight.
His speed accelerated for a moment, his body feeling like it was being pulled around the sun. He stretched his hand out for a moment, feeling the heat of the sun. He made sure not to reach out too far for fear of burning up in its ozone. He didn’t know why space was always the most comforting thing to think about in moments where he thought all was lost, but the solace-ness that was induced was enough for him to calm his mind down and think about the task that was at hand.
And before he knew it, he was traveling through the stars again, thinking about Mercury and how it always had the shortest time around the sun.
It was funny, thinking about how short Mercury passed around the sun, because that’s how fast Stitch thought his time here was passing.
And as much as he hated making parallels about his death, here he was, returning to his body on earth once again.
Trying to find his reason to live.
Andy told him that he wasn’t making sense. ”Would you? If you were facing death head on? Would either of you make sense if death was knocking on your doorstep?” Stitch looked at both of them, pulling his blade back for a moment, realizing that he had yet again, sunk it into the girl from ten.
He thought about Ollie’s sister Bella for a moment, and how much she talked about death while she was in the arena. It was always haunting about how much she knew about the topic, and maybe it was because she had already had a run in with it. Maybe it was because she survived something that she wasn’t supposed to survive.
”Bella Rose always faced her battles head on. She accepted the fact that she was going to die at some point. And yet, she still fought careers who thought they were untouchable.” Stitch replayed the scenes from last year in his head as he remembered just how strong she was. How prepared for her death she was.
”Maybe she was on to something.” Stitch said, offering a weak smile, feeling the wind of the spear press against his body, but no contact in sight. A miss.
Stitch stepped aside, looking at both of the people that were in this predicament and thought about how much they probably wanted to go home as well.
How desperate they were to achieve a goal that Stitch had set for himself the moment that he walked onto that train.
Stars felt like they were falling out of place, and they fell into the earth, with each attack they laid into each other.
He looked at Ollie, realizing that taking her hand might have been one of the worst things he had done in this arena. ”If you cant forgive me for that, then I understand.” Stitch pulled his glaive towards his chest and wondered if this was the time for him to switch to something else.
His glaive was his tried and true, but he always had second thoughts whenever he carved another cut into the girl that was before him. ”Ill take any forgiveness that I could get. ” Stitch nodded at Ollie for a second before looking at Andy.
”I hoping to see my mother again, so I can show her that she isn’t the worst thing that I have survived.” Stitch was crisp in his words. His mother was a monster, but he did not have time to elaborate. Not right now.
They did not deserve that much.
Not yet at the least.
”And an ex that I would really like to punch in the face.” Stitch smiled for a moment, thinking about how much he wanted to see Connor at the end of tunnel, but his first goal was to make it there.
”You got your boyfriend Andy? Who else do you have?” Stitch asked him as he raised his glaive in the air. With all the doubt in his mind, Stitch wanted to give it one more go. ”Is anyone going to miss us if we are gone?” Stitch questioned for a moment.
But he didn’t wait for an answer.
Instead he looked at Ollie and hoped that this would be over soon.
And his blade came down on her like thunder.griffin
