It was made quite clear, in the looping gold writing on the card that there would be no denying the invitation. Even as fear welled up in my throat, I kept quiet. I was loaded onto the tribute train with the others from District Ten deemed suitable to bring and I waited. I sat on the plus couches as I had years before, bu now dressed in a midnight blue gown provided to me. I had shown up at the station in my reaping attire and was told it was far to plain and redone up in Capitol garb.

He fiddled with the stem of his glass, letting the liquor swirl in the goblet before throwing it back. It stung his tongue, but he savored it.
Finally. Respect.
He took in a deep breath, looking over the ballroom where little crystals hung from the ceiling. It was dazzling and it was all for him- for he and his siblings who wore white. After years of prowling alleyways and washing blood from his hands in the musty Detention Center it was nice to be treated like a victor. They would all be here of course, here to bask in the glory of the Keepers.
He smiled. He'd get to keep an eye on his Annie.
He went to the bar, taking a flute of champagne from the flock laid out. He was ready to have an eventful night.
