Things were definately different here than from the war. This was planned attacks and strategies, the war wasn't. I ain't sure about who all is here, but from what I gathered, listenin to the passing keepers or whoever they were, that it was much like the first games. Death would become twenty three of us despite already havin lost the rebellion. Now they want us to kill even more. What kind of fucked up shit is that? Not only that, they want to retailiate against the rebels, namely me, who killed so many of them. I guess it's only fair. What they fail to know is that I ain't about to play a scaredy cat, ducking my tail between my legs and hidin. Didn't do that in the actual war and I ain't about to start doin that now. "I ain't a pussy-footed willow. You won't see me standin around waitin for someone to attack me first." My voice hammers down the hallway of the holding cell. My heart is angered just by bein here. I never got to say anything to my momma before leavin. I never got to kiss my baby brother, Hugh. He's not gunna know how to make a bomb, even though I learned before I was ten. He'll never get to beg momma to let me take him into town and agree to it, either. "Bastards. If I get out of here alive, you better hope another rebellion don't start because'a me!" I growl. I wonder if there are others around me that can hear. My pure distaste for this beauty of a holding cell is just too much to bear. I want out and now. Just as my momma always warns me, be careful what you wish for cause you just might get it, came true. The bars in front of me begin to show life. Life was suddenly pourin in with light and smells and sounds. Dry dirt scattered on the ground and it looks like a battlefield. I stand back, watchin faces emerge from their depths of their own personal hells. Most look like weaklin's who were the ones that catered to the needs of the keepers instead of leveling out the playing field. That was my job, obviously. My vision settled upon a glinting weapon not far from me and I watched several begin a battle they didn't start. The capitol was always a tad bit on the wimpy side, always afraid of the ants realizing they were stronger then their foe. Just cause we didn't have the artillery they did is the only reason we lost. They didn't fight fair. One day, it'll happen again and if I'm still alive, you bet your damndest I'll be on the front lines protectin my views and chargin head first into battle. Just like this. No need heedin safety because there was no hidin. Everything and everyone was out in the open. I'm takin my chances with life. Fightin for my right to live, damnit. |
